It's Break Time! - Time for Narnia's Appreciations: Part Two

Hahaha, yes there is!  We just have so many favorite guys, what can we say?  Let's get going!  There's turkey to eat.

Let's start off with Mr. Louis.  Louis Tomlinson - don't believe everything you're seeing on this guy right now.  Except for how awesome he is.  Because he's being sabotaged (as usual???).  But Narnia salutes Louis.  We're with him - and hoping 2026 brings better treatment for him and Harry.

2025 - looking fantastic, Louis!

Here is a clip of Louis singing "Lemonade" for Amazon Music UK:

And we are thankful for Harry Styles, who has to be one of the best sports around.  Has GOT to be with all the mis-handling of his image constantly going on.

You really realize how there are so few photos of Harry really smiling in a simple outing.  Let's go back in time.  Here's a nice smirk.

And from a couple of kings to another on the football field, here's Mr. Patrick Mahomes.  Talk about a guy who's had alot of outside interference the last several years with his career and yet he still manages to move up in the record books.

Here he is arriving today for the game vs. the Dallas Cowboys:

And this old favorite - LOVED this jacket on him.  Never forgetting this jacket!

and let's sneak in this eggplant number from 2019 at the 101 Awards:

Phew!   Hey, and how about Travis Kelce?  The grand classic tight-end:

 And an oldie but goodie!

While we're on another "athlete" track, let's move to NHL hockey and be thankful to see Jonathan Toews back on the ice, now playing for the Winnipeg Jets.  The NHL have arrival photos, too!  You cannot beat the "arrival" pics.

A vintage!  Look how young he was here:

And last but certainly not least, I, I mean Narnia has two "new" faves because this author has been binging on the 70's TV show, Emergency! and it's a re-discovery and obsession.  If you haven't seen the show, it is available on the streaming platform Peacock, as well as FETV and METV.  It's a show about Firehouse station 51 and features their two paramedics, Roy DeSoto and John Gage, in addition to the medical leaders at the fictional Rampart Hospital.  In the time period of the show, paramedics were a relatively new and approved addition to fire houses.  If you watch the first two episodes of Season 1, they are called The Wedworth-Townsend Act, named after the law which started the ball rolling.

A change in state law was necessary to allow personnel other than doctors and nurses to render emergency medical care. Hahn recruited two state legislators who wrote the Wedworth-Townsend Paramedic Act of 1970, signed into law by Governor Ronald Reagan on July 15, 1970, despite opposition from doctors, nurses, and attorneys. Paramedic training began the next month at the Freeman Memorial Hospital under Graf’s direction. It was the first nationally accredited paramedic training program in the United States. – via Los AngelesCounty Fire Museum

And so these two guys' characters are very brave and impactful paramedics. They couldn't be more different in personality and already having watched some personal interviews, the behind-the-scenes of the show have been quite impressive already.

So, quickly, here they are - Roy DeSoto played by Kevin Tighe and John Gage, played by Randolph Mantooth.   They are seniors now but still quite active, as they both have been working on a documentary about paramedics and Kevin was recently in the movie One Battle After Another

What a smile "Roy DeSoto" has!

the wire rims on Kevin!

And the spicy, fireball Johnny Gage:

                                                  don't fool with this guy!

And here the two guys were as their own guests from the Into the Unknown podcast, talking about their experiences on the show.   I have not listened to the podcast yet, but can't wait to.  They look terrific, don't they? 🙌🙌

So, there we have it!  So many, I mean, so much to be thankful for.   Their teams can give us numerous headaches, but we're still here and it's worth it.  We celebrate them all.

We at Narnia Dispatches want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating today.

And for all of us - we're all hanging in there together, okay?  A day at a time!

  1. As I tweeted earlier this evening when I sent out the links to the two posts, I have been working on two separate posts for awhile. Various things getting in the way + some of it my own fault for getting wrapped up in Emergency! lol Good LORD, it's been a blast. But, but, but! They'll get finished.

  2. I know that we follow quite a collection and variety of artists; some of it for fun, some of our long-timers because their stories are vital to learning about how the closet has worked for a number of years. And notice that a number of these guys are getting to be in their mid-30's and mid-40's. The mid-40's are getting to be pretty milestone-y. Not only are these guys' lifestyles evolving and changing, but their appearances are too, just like all of us have or will be.

There's one thing I've told M&M several times lately and that is this country has just a terrible case of ageism. The disrespect and rudeness towards boomers, younger seniors, anyone over 30 is terrible. And it's one reason I want to include Kevin and Randy on Narnia. Because they're both 80, maybe 81, I'd have to look it up. They are both dealing with physical ailments, things that happen to alot of people. And they're both very open about it.

But you hear their voice as one tells a story, watch a facial expression, or see the twinkle in their eye and you STILL SEE THEM. Just the outside has changed in ways.
It's like all of us who are not spring chickens anymore. We still feel much younger inside. Maybe parts of the body just can't do some things anymore. And this will happen to everyone. Everyone's day is coming. And these two guys, along with many in the entertainment industry, have to deal with aging in a field where youth is everything and sought after.

But Randy and Kevin are such wonderful examples of being open about it and yeah, quite brave considering what they're both dealing with or have been dealing with for a number of years - cancer for one and Parkinson's for another. So in the future, I want to share a few things from them and if it can help even just one Narnia reader to be more appreciative of what people have gone through to even make it to 70 or 80, heck even 65 for some? It'll be a good thing.
And it's not like they plain talk about aging, but it's how like Randy has talked about how he was when he was younger, in a reflective kind of way. It's insightful, I think.

    That’s the plan, anyway.
