Dating as far back as 1868, in what began as an honoring of fallen Civil War soldiers at Arlington Cemetary, Decoration Day has continued on and was declared a federal holiday in 1971. The name has been changed to Memorial Day and is observed on the last Monday of the month of May.
We remember and honor those who sacrificed and gave their lives while serving for their country.
