The wave of the yellow caution flag should become a fan's daily Outlook reminder when it comes to their OTP who is in the process of going underground. Sometimes "exciting news" can be too tempting to resist dancing around about and who would have thought there would be any hoodwinking to come from this announcement, made on Aug 26 of this year?
And two of the celebrities confirmed for this MISL exhibition, as shown above? Vancouver most-of-the-time residents Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, of the CW's Supernatural fame. It would be the third year for the charity soccer match to take place, with other entertainment stars and former Whitecap FC alumni also slated to appear. The September 14 exhibition would take place prior to the Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Houston Dynamo MLS game and cost an additional $10 to the required purchase of a game ticket.
So naturally, J2 fans were excited at the prospect of Jared and Jensen being able to participate together and enjoyed reminiscing about the two men's participation in the 2008 Red Bull soapbox derby race, also held for a charitable cause.
These kinds of joint activities have not been as common as they used to be. After all, both men had been placed in isolation cells from each other for quite awhile and surely they (and their fans) might be allowed to have a rare nice thing? This one small thing?
We know, we know. Silly to ask, right? As has been a longtime practice of Sony/Syco with the young men of One Direction and many "gotcha's" for old-timer fans of Jake and Austin back in the day, their record companies, publicists and staff see situations such as these as golden opportunities to pull the rug out from under the fans, in the hopes of inflicting another pounding of the stake into the fading heartbeat of an OTP's fandom. Translation: They don't want fans of real-life OTP's sticking around! ;-)
Anyway, back to our current story. So thus, here's the Vancouver White Caps promoted as such, beginning on Aug. 26 and again on Sept. 7:

and then? So instead of them both being at the even as advertised (which was promo-tweeted on Sept. 10 at 4pm in the afternoon CT),
the announcement came the very next day on the 11th, three (3) days before the event, that Jared was not going to be able to attend. The Whitecaps replied to their previous day's tweet.
That was a rather flippant tone, wasn't it? Jared's too "busy hunting demons"?
Jensen would still play, but Jared's whereabouts, whyabouts and whatabouts were not immediately known. So, of course thus began the now-habitual fretting.
"Oh, I hope he's okay!"
"Something seems really off"
"now I'm worried"
There were a few speculations regarding an alleged ankle injury suffered while in Switzerland and perhaps that had caused Jared to have a memory lapse and suddenly think twice about trying to cover the length of an indoor soccer field at brisk rates of speed with a bum stem.
Now coincidentally, it just so happened that Jared's beard Genevieve had made a verbal "slip" in an Instagram "Live" from New York City, which took place in a cab or Uber. Presumably the Instagram Live took place on the evening of Sept 10. A Q & A with fans was part of the video and in reply to one of the questions, she tells everyone she was in NYC for Fashion Week, but that by now, she was quite anxious to get home to the kids. #archeseyebrow
And then in the video, Genevieve makes a supposed "slip" when asked how she deals with Jared being gone a lot; replying that she and Jared have a "great schedule" and don't go longer than two weeks without seeing each other. It's in their "contract", in their "negotiations".
Oh, I know, I know, right? What a slip! What was she thinking? Was she under the influence to have made a reference to some kind of marital contract? To be even more frank, a bearding contract? Mild speculation took place on our blog of choice, Spn Goss, of course when the announcement was soon made that Jared could no longer attend the Vancouver Whitecaps Legends and Stars soccer match.
Fingers began to point towards who? Towards the beard, Genevieve. Evil Genevieve must be at fault because of her bad verbal slip about her and Jared having a "contract", and pulling him from the charity game must have been some form of "damage control".
Another "commenter" preferred to shift blame "where it belongs: squarely on Jared's shoulders" because he had a "history of ditching commitments". Of course, at least part of that claim must have been a reference to several conventions Jared has missed.
Bum ankle, the beard's "careless" verbal slip in the back of an Uber, his back that supposedly wasn't 100%, or just plain old Jared's fault. Take your pick; there were several options to choose from. Blame goin' all around!
And most of these discussions were before Saturday the 14th, the day of the Whitecaps Legends and Stars event.
And then there was a late entry into the "Whose fault is it Jared pulled out of the soccer match" sweepstakes.
On Sept.11th, "bodyguard", aka hired PR handler and all-around enabler Clif Kosterman had tweeted an Instagram picture of two black SUV's waiting to take Jared and Jensen to work on set. One SUV for Jared and one SUV for Jensen, apparently; a striking deviation from the long-time folklore of the two men frequently riding together.
When a "civilian" twitter account replies with a "cryptic", 'what happened to Jared and Jensen sharing a car? Guess the rumors are true."
Cliffie responds with two interesting comments. One, that the J's "work at different times a lot". And two, the soccer charity match (that Jared canceled from) "conflicted with a previous engagement", thus explaining why he had had to change his RSVP.
Clif's remark about Jared & Jensen working at different times and riding separately is a change from long-time signs that they often rode together to work. Metaphoric planted seed of Sam and Dean Winchester being separated on the show and/or Jared & Jensen's real life relationship?
His second remark about the 'conflict with a previous engagement' prompted the tweeter @Banna19861 to make a return visit to the thread on the 14th (the evening of the charity soccer event) and gleefully exclaim,
So, apparently, @Banna19861 must have conveniently seen online evidence that Jared had been spotted at another event ("A fight" the account claimed), and not the soccer match. So they couldn't wait to return to the twitter thread to 1) accuse Clif of lying and just as importantly, 2) immediately set the tone for how fans should react to this charity snub. "Shows what a jerk he really is." and 3) repeat their narrative of the J's no longer being friends. "No wonder jensen isn't friends with him anymore"
When another twitter account asks for proof of this sighting, the intern troll, I mean account produces a social media picture of Jared at an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event going on at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, which is actually .2 miles from BC Place, where the Whitecaps (and Jensen) were playing at the same time.

This would be one of numerous pictures of Jared with fans before, during and after the fight event. This picture was posted by an account that is now private-d. The fan had stated that she ran into Jared backstage before the UFC event took place. It was tweeted though by a different account at 2:18 pm Pacific time on the 14th. The UFC preliminary card was to take place starting at 4 pm with the Main card starting at 7pm. Still, what was Jared doing at Rogers Arena so early? Jensen's match was scheduled to start at 4:45 pm.
It's obvious the intention was to make sure Jared was seen at the UFC fight instead of the soccer match, by the entire fandom. And he had plenty of social media assistance. For example, with this gentleman below Jose Manzano, whose twitter bio says he's a "focus puller" (i.e. first assistant camera, member of film crew) for Supernatural's Season 15
actor Raj Lal:
and "bodyguard" Clif Kosterman (interesting, isn't it? Cliffie could "watch over" Jared at the UFC fight, but he couldn't accompany him home during his time of duress in the infamous "2015 mental breakdown". Great job, Cliffie, as always #eyeroll)
And there were more game players. We're told the following tidbit by this extraordinarily fortuitous fan (one with a visible record history for being so), able to attend the soccer match and was somehow privy to insider information, which she was generous enough to share:
Oh?? Jensen's fine with it, but as for the fans who paid $10+ to see possible favorite actor Jared, who was listed as one of the...
[That's - "confirmed"] "29 celebrities confirmed". As for those fans, well, sorry, suckers! Because that's what that message says, when a cancellation is made only three (3) days before said event due to the reason of one's mood and entertainment preferences. Next time, just be prepared to go with the flow regarding the meaning of the word "confirmed". But, many fans were still happy because Jensen was still going to be in attendance. Translation = lots of Jensen pictures.
So, next time Jared and Jensen are "confirmed" for a Supernatural convention by Creation Entertainment, if Jensen feels like checking out an indie music performance of let's say Kaleo on a Sunday afternoon, the same time as his and Jared's con panel, then it's okay that he skip the con and go take in the concert? Because that is what he feels like doing and Jared gives no indication he's in protest?
But was this really a case of Jared running rogue and "ditching" his RSVP obligations without a reasonable explanation? Of course not.
This was his (and Jensen's) pr folks purposely misleading the fans, dangling an enticing carrot, getting the fandom excited, and then yanking the rug right out from under them.
A remorseless move intended to contribute towards the deflation of a dwindling OTP fandom, deemed an "unfortunate necessity" when a couple is preparing for life after high visibility and going deeper into the closet. Just like what Jensen and Jared are in the process of doing. For a longtime couple like Jared and Jensen, similar to Sony/Syco's separation of Louis and Harry, it has been a painstakingly gradual course for the last several years to separate them, publicly and professionally. And it's a precarious game plan to carry out because their show Supernatural is still filming with one more season to air, in addition to having additional fan conventions with photo ops, silver and gold passes to sell. (At least Sony/Syco waited until the beginning of the Hiatus from Hell to begin Louis and Harry's separation.)
Plus there are more fund raising projects, T-shirts to sell, change cups to hold out from beards, siblings, and extended "Spn family" members who have jewelry, books, social media channels, fandom videos and other paraphernalia wares to sell. Wares which depend on the appeal of Jensen and Jared to help promote. So it's a slow release. Hence, perhaps a large part of the reason why only hours later both men were documented, I mean photo'd together at dinner, followed by clubbing after the UFC fight event. So, don't stay mad too long, ladies, because here were your boys, see? They were mirroring each other, showing that they are never really separated:
And then hey, they really were together! A Date Night, how about that?
And that's all it takes for many fans to forget any disgruntlement. Pfft! What charity match rebuff? Who cares? Ain't nobody's business but theirs, right? ;-) There were a few fans who said as long as Jensen said that Jared wanted to go to the UFC, that must mean he's fine with it and as long as Jensen is fine with it, well....that's the final word and anyone who disagrees needs to have a seat.
See how that works? Lead the fans on. Manipulate fandom and yank half of the OTP out of the event and leave them wondering what was going on. Have that OTP half then show up at another event at the same time, making him look like an insensitive, selfish cad. Provoke fans into being mad at Jared and with each other. Have OTP show up together on a dinner date later in the evening, and all the previous is suddenly forgotten and forgiven for many.
Interesting, isn't it? Was it all just a matter of forgetfulness on Jared's part? Could Jared just not bring himself to tell everyone he had over-scheduled? Bad Outlook Calendar management?
One very telling sign that not all was so innocent, was when one takes a look at how many parties needed to be involved that day. Jared had a cast of thousands - Riverdale actors, "bodyguard" Cliff, members of the Supernatural filming crew and make-up, and former guest actors on the show.
"Bodyguard" Clif posting the separate SUV Instagram picture and providing the platform for the intern troll to pay a visit and spread the "Jared and Jensen have broken up" mantra, followed by another visit days later to point out how he had "lied" to the fans and hey, guess where Jared was?
It wouldn't be the first time an Instagram photo of Cliffie's has helped to provide fertile ground for a narrative. Back in 2017, when the fandom was being gas lit with a rabbit hole story about someone named "Lollie" being a secret surrogate for Jared and Genevieve, it was Clif who posted one of the cryptic pictures of Arlo, the Padalecki's golden retriever, who had been purchased in March 2016.
Only six days earlier, beard Genevieve had suddenly been inspired to Instagram a photo of Jared and Arlo. Hours later, an "anon" visited Spn Gossip, bringing with them a black and white photo of Lollie with a dog who looked suspiciously like it could be Arlo. Clif's post would come days later and help to keep leading those horses to the proverbial water trough.
Not only did the evening require helpers for Jared, but Jensen had his own "film crew".
He also had the member of the Supernatural crew, make-up artist Mikaela Peterson. She provided some "courtside" view shots:

Her Instagram stories were used for post-UFC social activity which showed that Jensen and Jared were together at dinner and Bar None dance club. Looks like those confidentiality agreements must extend beyond the set, doesn't it? That works out pretty well, like a 2-for-1. Narnia has to wonder what it is with these make up artists? Maybe Ms. Peterson knows Jake's regular make up artist, Donald Mowat who has helped him out numerous times now with his set location "date stamps"??
Aaaaah yes...they lend authenticity and count on trustworthiness as part of their resume and credentials within the industry.
And that civilian fan (with the still-unexplained inside information) who also had great seats at the soccer match of Jensen's, providing lots of photographic and video coverage. It looks like she's also managed to be able to attend other events which have involved Jensen and Jared: their appearance on Conan, San Diego Comic Cons, Supernatural conventions, even the Ackles' brewery, Family Beer Business. Lucky gal, don't you think?
We've seen incredibly "fortunate" fans like this before, haven't we? They have a way of repeatedly "encountering" our OTP faves, up close and personal and the seemingly deep pockets for travel in order to meet these men.
Ol' "Amy" who has "met" Jake how many times now, complete with pictures every time, letters, flowers, etc? Just incredible fortune...
And what about the recent case of the "civilian fan" who grabbed Harry Styles' crotch while he was on stage in 2018 and then somehow, miraculously was able to meet him again just days ago:
Riiiight.
Repeated run ins with the same fans (We're looking at you London Stalker Crew), those up close and personal kind, are against the odds when you consider how many fans 1D band members meet. The probability would seem to be quite slim, at best, don't you think?
The below 'civilian' fan who has met Jared & Jensen numerous times also tweeted this on the evening of the 14th, that she had somehow met this particular fan who said she met Jared backstage before the UFC event:

As has been pointed out before, it takes an awful lot of planning to have this many coincidences. It's a chip-chip-chipping away, a dismantling of an OTP's believers that we don't realize is happening during real time. The up and down, the bad and the good, the stunts and separate narratives vs. the "here-you-go" Milkbones tossed to the fans that grow fewer and fewer.
The enforcement of an agreed-upon deep closet is not something that just happens, it's carefully curated
and manipulated by professionals who have a vested interest in deceiving
the public.

Another thing about the cast of thousands. Another reason why these 2 guys (and Jake and Austin, and Harry) develop such a familiar supporting cast is it is those people's social media accounts which are used.
Steve Carlson. The beards. This make-up artist. Film crew. Stand-ins. Shawski, aka Ivan Shaw. Luke Mitchell. Rowdy Stovall, the bro-in-law on Austin's side of the family. Donald Mowat, Jake's make up artist. The UK radio DJ Grimey, aka Nick Grimshaw.
For the most part, all of the GPS misleading placement, the lying and gaslighting does not taint the social media of Jared, Jensen, Jake, Austin nor Harry. The Instagram Stories and pictures are for those folks listed above.
And this too is why Instagram is used almost every time. Their people control the pictures. They control the captions. They control the story. They can use photoshop all they want, a software that has gotten better and more improved. Even videos can be manipulated and voices. So you can see why Instagram has become the tool of choice.
It's absolutely befuddling why the J's team jerked the fans around so with this soccer match/UFC nonsense. But once again, it made Jared look bad and so that helps to feed the elevation of one half while bringing down the other.
Louis was always brought down (he was portrayed as "homophobic" and saddled with "babygate"), while Harry was elevated. In the beginning, it was Austin who was dragged down; interns on WFT2 made anonymous comments claiming he had a drinking problem, he had chemical dependency problems, and preyed on underaged girls. They faked DM's to accounts which made it clear they were under-aged. It was all done to make it look like Austin was undeserving of Jake and to break up the fans who believed they were together.
Jared? Same thing. He's the one who has always been portrayed as the one with a hot temper (airline and hospitality staff rants), "ditches commitments" and is "mentally fragile".
