Which came first, the egg or the chicken? In each of the couples above, the OTP shined noticeably and undeniably bright, some more quickly and obviously than others, perhaps a slow burn. But in each case, there was definitely something tangible which caught the attention and fondness of many, many fans. Enough to create blogs and fandoms. In all cases, with the exception of Tyler and Dylan, a true committed relationship existed and (Narnia believes) continues to do so. There was something going on with Tyler and Dylan however, which created the "need" for Posey.
Each couple was followed by a louder counter-active "relationship", one which was intended to emulate, while stifling and distracting from the original couple. In some cases, one or both members of the OTP suddenly married. In other cases, the OTP was separated, rarely ever seen together again or separated as book-ends with a third wheel often positioned in between in photos (i.e. Misha Collins).
In three cases, one half of the original couple would go on to be "bromantically" paired with whoever they happened to be merely sharing a space with: Jake Gyllenhaal, Jensen Ackles and Harry Styles. And in Jake's case, someone who is long deceased. In other words, someone beyond safe. R.I.P., Heath.
The Loud, the Proud and the Allowed - Gyllenholland. Cockles. Zarries.
And the Quieted. The Hushed. The Separated. - Jaustin, J2 (Padackles), Larrie, Ziam, and Shevine.
The patterned history is right there.

It should be the Loud, the Proud and the Contrived, right?
I couldn't believe that gif of Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Posey. Posey always struck me as a meard - it was like suddenly, he was glued to O'Brien's side. But to see that comment about being like a married couple? Right out of a publicist's handbook.
I don't know who would buy Stefani and Blake. Of all the awkward, unconvincing pairings. Look at that picture of them. And they have shoved that "relationship" into any lens that's around while getting rid of Adam Levine off of The Voice. Talk about real separation.
I wonder if because Blake and Adam were such opposites and yet their chemistry was so obvious, that part of the decision to bring on Gwennie was because she also was an opposite to Blake. Of course, there has to be more than one factor which decides a beard/merkin pairing, but I'm just wondering if that is one of them for "Shefani".
It's so obvious when one sees the rise and fall of several celebrity couples, what is really going on behind the scenes. Early on, PR teams/ management, embrace the obvious attraction and romantic chemistry because it makes the show or group,or movie, etc. edgy, authentic and original. Which in turn brings in an audience and $$$$$. Particularly, a female and gay audience each of whom are notoriously loyal and supportive. But, once TPTB see how they can't control these fandoms to stay within acceptable lines, here comes the insertion of an ersatz version of the original. (As Louis Tomlinson would express, "A Copy of a Copy of a Copy.") Remember, record labels, producers, etc., don't want to give up all that money rolling in, they just want to sideline the real thing.
