Sunday Musings: Flashbacks, Throwbacks and Rejuvenations



LOL.  Good Sunday Greetings from Narnia Dispatches! Several little tidbits to bring up and news nuggets that may have been missed over the past week or so.

• First of all, after the news yesterday of Tom Holland seeming to make a statement about the title of the next Spiderman movie which Jake Gyllenhaal has been widely rumored to be playing the villainous role of Mysterio, it would seem that Jake's social media search has since erupted with a fleet of carts heading off before the horses.  It's like a backwards Ben Hur.  Because why?

Thank you.  According to the press, Jake is still "in talks".   With filming of the Officially Untitled Spiderman Sequel™ set to begin in July, it looks like the announcement of Jake to be "confirmed" instead of "rumored" could go into the eleventh hour.

• At a fundraiser called Paws 4 AKF (Always Keep Fighting), the mayor of Austin, Steven Adler, proclaimed yesterday, June 23, 2018 as "Supernatural Day", honoring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as the longtime stars of the show and congratulating them on their 14th filming season.


Just as important however, was the emphasis on how Jared and Jensen "will always come home to Austin".  As the Austin, TX "residency" was really the key to the mayoral acknowledgement, of course the beards were on full display and it was an opportune time to reinforce the 'marriages', and peddle the Austin businesses and the beards.  Still, all of these before-mentioned exist because of these two men.  Jared and Jensen, the original, longtime stars of the show, are the heartbeat and the pulse, no matter how many others try to horn in.


 

I do think the guys had to cave this summer and commit time to the Austin, TX narrative.  It's a pivotal time for them as it seems they are gradually transitioning and preparing for life after the show. Now is the time to sell the brewery, what must be a substantial financial investment and they cannot do that tucked somewhere far away for a month or so.  Both men seem to be saddled with beards who are enjoying a bit too much of their time in the spotlight as "wives" to men such as Jared and Jensen.  And their forgetfulness over why they are needed in the first place rears its head in voyeuristic moments like this one:


 

Getting a little ATX claustrophobic there, Jensen?  ;-)   

• And a call-out moment to the paps hanging out at Bloomingdale stores, invading celebrities' privacy while they shop the racks.  Now some of us know to be on our guard while at Bloomingdales.

Note a couple of frequently used, key phrases found in the JJ post:  "have been quietly dating" and "spotted a few times on date nights".   I guess it can't get much quieter than a Bloomingdale's outing, except for those darn paps! Or was that security camera footage?  ;-)

Nice to see Josh Duhamel adopting some of Jake's old homecoming escort elbow-offered courtesies.






• We had some Payno-Tommo twitter convo yesterday which was fun to see:













Lovely to see, wasn't it?  And wonderful to see Louis on Twitter, having fun with the World Cup and replying to some fans as well.  No doubt part of what holds all of One Direction's fans waiting patiently for their return is their interaction with the fandom.

•  And then this set of pictures of Mr. Marcus Mumford couldn't help but catch Narnia's eye because of the presence of the boot (bringing back some still "traumatic" memories for this writer! lol).  What in the heck happened to cause the boot?


And then the following day, the boot was gone as Marcus allegedly attended the wedding of Game of Throne co-stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie. Hopefully Marcus put the boot back on soon after the wedding - never good to ditch a healing aid for too long.

• And finally, a pictorial treat for those interested in what Austin Nichols is up to these days.  While perusing the internet yesterday, I came upon this little gem.  It was a throwback photo Instagram'ed by an Austin bud, @vinnawinna aka Vincent Perini.  Vincent Perini is a band member of a group called Cologne, with Dan Keyes, also a friend of our own Austy.  Imagine that!  What a small, small, small, small, tight world it is when it comes to our boys Austin and Jake, imagine. that.  ;-)

Check it out!!  First the Instagram version so you can see some of the comments, amongst them one by none other than Austin himself and also Dan Keyes.  Surprisingly missing was a comment by a member of this posse, Mr. Matt Frost.  Hmmmm...

And now tiara'd Austin and vinnawinna in amplified wonder.  Wasn't Austin just a cutie back in the day?  No wonder Jake fell hook, line and sinker.  Thank you, Mr. Vincent, for sharing this photo.  Let's blow it up a bit.

Awwww, baby-faced Austin.  Doesn't get any better than this!  It looks like Austin and Vincent go pretty far back, doesn't it? And this was from 2001, so it was B.J. - before Jake.

 • And speaking of going pretty far back, supposedly Jake was at the NYC premiere of a shortie called Boomerang, by an old familiar name, Matthew Frost.  Remember him?

Jake looking a bit more youthful here, no doubt because he is clean shaven and a very nice picture of Matt.  These two go very far back as Matt was Jake's personal assistant through four movies:  Bubble Boy, Donnie Darko, The Day After Tomorrow and Moonlight Mile.  So, you know and I know that Matt must know quite a bit about Jake.  [If you know what I mean]. And Austin as well, because there has been a history of social media interaction and photos of Matt with Austin too.  

 There were a few more photos from this screening event which can be found on various Instagram sites, here is one more which includes a woman called Anna Gray, who is supposed to be Matt's "girlfriend".  For any long timers, do you feel like you're in a twilight zone anymore with Jake's old posse?  First Chris Fischer, now Matt Frost, I'm just sayin'.....lol.  It's a new, new world, in other words.

Miraculously, youthful looking Jake, isn't he?  And there were plenty of "spontaneous, out of the blue" similar fan observations on how youthful Jake looked, on both Instagram and Twitter, I'd like to point out.  Preemptively stricken is a phrase that comes to mind, I would say. Regardless, nice to see Jake with Matt, fountain of youth and all.

lol.

 • And finally, I conclude with a statement of sorts.  The recently released pictures of Jake and Matt have opened up a sort of Pandora's box of revelations for M&M and myself.  Enlightenment and realization on how intertwined and involved this network of friends is, consisting of several previously mentioned hounds, I mean er - buds, of Jake and Austin.  There is a lot of history and it is obvious, a lot of support.  And while the first instinct was to do some calling out on the exclusion and distraction, there was a misunderstanding on my part on who was indeed "out".  So, for now, we are going to leave some things on the back burner as we wait to see what the future holds for the supporting closeting network.  

 Indeed, it is apparent that Jake and Austin's secrets are such that their trusted network is shrinking.  It's so small now, that they have increasingly relied on close family and old friends to help out to cover for a few whereabouts and behind the scenes reality.  I think Jensen and Jared are finding that when you have a family of children involved, it's not so simple any more.

 Well, that's all for now!  Let's end with a few new pictures of Mr. Liam Payne, shall we?  ;-) [M&M's voice in the distance, "What about Harry?!"]   Liam seems to have been out and about, busy busy busy.

Well, well, well, look what was just tweeted.


 
And although Jake's IMDb still is not updated, it would appear that miraculously at this very minute, Marvel has JUST NOW announced that Jake is confirmed for the Spiderman movie.  So it becomes clear that Jake was never going to do Rio and the gushing comment from Tom Holland talking about Jake being someone he wanted to stretch himself after (er - or something to that effect) was a set up. 

So this London filming of Spiderman "Far From Home" will enable Jake and Austin to remain across the pond and no one else will have known any different.  

Except us here at Narnia.  Thanks for the confirmation, Jakers! Gotta love it when a story begins to come together.
