Don't Come a 'Rockin'.......Yet - Day 5

Thirty Days of Toothy Tile, Grey Goose and the Baby Tiles

Day 5

No, this was not an April Fool's joke.

From TMZ.com, April 10, 2007, 1:30pm PDT:

Jake's New BFF

Forget Matt and Lance, Jake Gyllenhaal has a new buddy.

Jake was spotted in San Diego last week, visiting the set of HBO's pilot "John from Cincinnati," where his pal Austin Nichols plays the lead. Gyllenhaal arrived and was immediately escorted to Nichols' trailer, where they spent most of the day. Austin left the trailer only to grab some grub for the two from catering tables. This photo shows the best friends at a Lakers game in 2006.

Then, this past Saturday, TMZ spies spotted Jake and Austin in Los Angeles, having a quiet dinner at Jar restaurant. The two eluded having their pic taken by paparazzi when they escaped through the kitchen's backdoor. Reese Witherspoon, who has been romantically linked with Jake, was not present.

This is not the first we've seen of Jake and Austin -- their friendship goes back to the 2004 filming of "The Day After Tomorrow." Unlike the trio of Jake, Matt and Lance, this duo appears to be a lasting friendship.   source

I find that last sentence of TMZ's pretty interesting:  "Unlike the trio of Jake, Matt and Lance, this duo appears to be a lasting friendship".   TMZ's gossip bit was posted on April 10, which was a Tuesday in 2007.  That means the prior Saturday would have been April 7.  If we take a look back around that time, according to our Jake picture archive, I Heart Jake.com, it looks like our fave two were papped cycling in Los Angeles on the 7th:

There is not a pictorial record of Jake and Austin patronizing Jar Restaurant on the evening of the 7th, but not everything is for public eye, is it? A little evening, date night reward for that pedaling excursion, I reckon.  ;-)

One important note to think about when looking at these couple of active weeks in April.   On April 3, Jake and Austin were papped cycling in Griffith Park, located in the Los Feliz area of LA.  Then, Jake was seen leaving a doctor's office the next day, April 4.  And several days after, more cycling and the Jar restaurant spotting.  April 8 was Easter Sunday, bringing out the Gyllenhaal family for pap pictures.

With Baby Tile No. 1 being born on October 17, that makes April the critical first trimester month, always a cause for excitement, relief, happiness, and perhaps a mini, all-day getaway of "loved up" celebration because you are well on your way.  Things are happening.

And clearly, Jake and Austin were well on their way towards anticipating the birth of their first child.

Do any long-timer Jaustin fans remember this story?

So this, along with those last couple of biking pics from the previous post (Old Home Movies)  all occurred in the first part of April.  April was the key trimester month for these two guys and so who knows, maybe these outings were out of excitement over making it past that first critical hurdle in a baby expectancy.  Either way, Jake and Austin were off and running on about the most exciting venture that can happen to a couple in their lives.
