Chatter, speculation, and rumors about Jake Gyllenhaal and the role of Batman go as far back as 2010.

And then in November of last year, 2017, the rumors began to swirl and this time, stick around:
Our favorite Canadian, Johnny Campea, revealed on his YT show that he was told Matt Reeves has met with Jake Gyllenhaal about playing Batman.— Connor Behrens (@ConnorBehrens) November 16, 2017
Jake doesn't strike me as guy who would want to play a superhero & be attached to multiple films, but stranger things have happened.

And THEN?
The gavel is thrown.
The man himself, Jake Gyllenhaal states he is not going to be Batman. From April, earlier this year:

What, you say? "I SAID -"

For now, he says he's NOT the next Batman. Video here: https://t.co/uFNFFPltpy
Aaaah, I see a bit of wiggle room in those two words "for now", don't you? Give WME's Jake G Social Media team a quarter inch, guaranteed they will take a marathon of miles.
In May, the Batman chatter was replaced with Spiderman Mysterio chatter. Bright and shiny, bright and shiny!

And now to the present. With rejuvenated talk that Ben Affleck is once again out as Batman, what bad penny is coming around again? That's right.

Too old! We need a younger Batman who can sustain a DC Universe for years. I am a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman. He’a got the look, the acting skills, and he’s the right age. Gyllenhaal for Batman https://t.co/8WKEDoQYxr— Matt Bruno (@ReelMattyBRaps) September 13, 2018

Is Jake really this undecided about a role? Is this just a case of social media team boredom?
Or perhaps when another round of Batman chatter is combined with the following:
An alarmingly spiffed up and clean-shaven Jake (the likes of which Jake fans have rarely seen post-2012) walking the runway,
a curiously timed People.com interview about Jake's "playful" office space, reiterating how he "works" in New York City:

splashy appearance at WME/IMG/Endeavor-run New York Fashion Week. An all too increasingly familiarly contrived meme shot:
A la Liam Chain, we have Jake-Chain now, at a Calvin Klein Launch,
"Out and About":
Reading a magazine:
When you combine Jake-Batman repeat "chatter", along with Jake here, there and everywhere, and let's not forget Austin and his beard pretending to be hanging with the usual enablers, well, maybe Jake isn't that far from playing like Batman after all. While all were staring at the post-Jake-drought distractions, by the end of it all, Jake was busy all right. But he wasn't busy in the Big Apple.
He was busy high tailing it back to the roost.
We've seen this episode before, boys.

Just stahp it, fellas, lol.
They're tiring sometimes, aren't they? The "playful office" story was huge clue #1. NYFW meme pics were another. Same identical nonsense as last year, except last year it was with Lupita. Just a new year.
Who will it be with next year at NYFW, WME?
And to even try to fill up the twitter with Batman chatter.....*sigh*
Anyway, meanwhile Jake has hightailed it back to his kids and Austin.
So excited to be home and back in my bed, Lord willing a weekend at home for once.
And the Royals just won!!!
Time to hit the hay. Everybody have a great Friday!
LOLLLLLLLL! An eight-year audition for Batman is a bit much. Maybe Jake should try out for Robin instead. It's obvious that Jake's people use these high profile franchise stories to make it appear like Jake is in demand.
I guess Batman rumors are a way to keep his name out there. Or they're trying to show there is a lot of fan interest in him doing it, in hopes of getting a franchise of some sort.
Exactly, Destiny. Exactly on both of your points. At the same time, providing a lot of distraction.
Hope things are going well! My Chiefs were ahead 21-0 but now I see the Steelers are trying a comeback. Our defense is not near as good as our offense. On the other hand, the Royals are doing well lately, so that is awesome.
Got a new post up! Time to close this one up. Great to see you, Dest! Thank you for commenting. :-)
