Sunday Musings: Get the Gorilla Glue - Reinforcements Needed

via GIPHY

Good Sunday evening!  September is here and that means daylight hours are shortening, sleeves are three-quarter lengthening and everything else is pumpkin flavoring! Yeehaw.  [let the grammar police come try to take me on over that sentence. I dare them!]

We have a few topics to focus upon and discuss, so let's get going.

Under the category of "Reinforcements Apparently Needed," let's ask the penultimate question. Why would a former co-star, supposed good friend, and long-time "bodyguard" be so insensitive [Jared's "mental breakdown" prior to Jus In Bello in 2015] as to post social media throwback pictures from a distressing time, casually reminiscing without a care in the world?

Apparently, a little bit of hide-and-go-seek while Jared was fleeing home to "be with his family". That armoire closet seems rather appropriate, doesn't it?  So while Jared was allegedly under extreme duress, these three were playing peek-a-boo with an armoire. Riiight...

Oh look, someone else wants to reminisce:

Time heals all wounds, right?  Just some fun and games between buddies, while the wounded one wasn't even around.  Hot tub'ing it (is that marble??) allegedly in Dubai while Jared was seeking peaceful asylum in Texas with what was said to be a breakdown.  And below is Cliffie the "bodyguard" with who looks to be Richard Speight, Jr., and the back of Jensen Ackles' head.

It is simply not believable that had Jared truly gone through such a desperate time, to think these folks would be so insensitive and oblivious.  Not only insensitive, but what about the tag team tactic?  "Oh, sorry Jared, don't mean to bring up a bad memory!" And then bam!  How about a second reminder? "You can handle another one can't you?"  Because that's exactly what this was. Not believable at all, folks.  Just think about it.

Are these kinds of efforts more about stirring up the J2 fandom by reminding everyone of older narratives, reinforcing, rinsing and repeating? More duct tape, please. Let's add some conditioner (or is it conditioning?) this time.  Maybe Gorilla Glue next time, fellas.

Fast-forward to today, and Sony/Syco needed more than a quick setting epoxy earlier in the week, when Louis Tomlinson suggested that he and Harry were kicking back at their house, listening to One Direction music. What, you say? How did I miss that headline? Well, of course image contracts and NDAs prevent an open admission of what's really going on behind the scenes, but Louis and Harry are masters of cryptic communication techniques.  All one has to do is pay attention and listen carefully. Even funnier, is that Louis brazenly dropped the hint on the X-Factor UK audition show last weekend, sending out a message that anyone familiar enough with his wily ways simply could not miss.

The eyebrow raising moment began innocent enough. In between auditions, one of 1D's songs played in the background, fans happily singing along in the audience.

Soon the members in the crowd focused their attention on the man himself, one of the composers of the catchy tune, to make sure he knew how much they still loved him and One Direction's music. And, Louis did not disappoint in his response back to them.

The day before yesterday? Best mate, you say? Just got back to ours? And "we" listened to back-to-back One Direction. Please. Tell us more, Louis. Tell us more.

Loving the memories? Almost like that best mate was somehow part of that second, third, and fourth album experience. Let's see, who is well known to be Louis' best mate. Who could it be? Who could it be?

This is a real brain twister. Let's think a little harder on this one.

Just two bros touching. Nothing to see here.

Could it be?  Nah, couldn't be.  Right Niall?

After all, when have Harry and Louis ever sat back during their off time, listening to boyband music at home?

Well, as "farfetched" as the idea of those well-known arch enemies™ Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson just kicking back and blissfully enjoying each other's company while fondly listening to album after album of 1D music, (i.e., reminiscing on those halcyon days of yore that they shared together), evidently Sony/Syco didn't quite seem so confident about what people might actually think. In fact, the rapid-fire reaction was classic panic mode and damage control. Quick and embarrassingly heavy-handed. The kind of public display that only someone fearful of the truth might put into motion.

Drum roll, please.

Louis shows up on BBC 1 Radio on September 4, unscheduled to participate in the inane and pointless "pass the pasty" challenge with Greg James.

Radio One had ex One Directioner Louis Tomlinson on the morning show with Greg to answer some of the FAQs.

The new X Factor judge sat down on the show this morning to explain how the Padstow pasty was being contained properly and was all set up for those overnight moments, where it would be staying in “reasonably priced hotels, with trusted members of the team.”

The pasty meme was naturally just a pretext for the real reason Louis was booked for this brief command performance appearance.  The wheels set in motion when Greg casually brings up the X-Factor to prompt Louis to comment about how weird it must have been to be on the show. "It must have been surreal of you to walk into that arena again at the weekend and be on that side of the judging panel, instead of a contestant...." Then they made fun of Simon Cowell's shoes to distract everyone into thinking this was all very natural and spontaneous. Because surely, Sony/Syco would not have allowed Louis and Greg to make fun of Cowell's footware if this "conversation" had been staged. That is until the real reason for the interview emerged. The exchange left for the end, so everyone would remember what was said. Greg James plays a brief audio clip from the show, then lets Louis clarify what he really meant. One guess at what was the very clear statement that somehow needed additional explanation.

"...And yeah I just got home from one of the nights [on the X-Factor] and thought you know it's been such a long time since I listened to any of the One Direction stuff, especially the older stuff, so I sat down with me girlfriend and me best mate, we had a couple of drinks, and just lived it again. It was lovely...."

Still, after all was said and done, leave it to Louis to do what he had to do, but still fight back. The messages on his clothing loud and clear. Making sure everyone knew that this interview was not organic.

Russian translation on sweater : "Suddenly" or "Out of the Blue"
with a big fat red exclamation point!

Or, like one of his other shirts informs those
receptive to the message:

"No matter how hard you try, you can't stop me now."

From August 24, Kevin McHale wished his boyfriend Austin P. McKenzie a Happy 25th birthday, same as Liam Payne this year!  These two are beautiful, aren't they?

And let's end Sunday Musings with a look back at Jake, who appeared last night on the carpet for the premiere of The Sisters Brothers at the Toronto Film Festival.  We at Narnia admittedly were a tad concerned because Jake was a non-attendee at the press conference held yesterday morning.  Instead, he had another cast member fill his seat, Rebecca Root.

Someone forgot to tell @TIFF_NET that Jake wasn't planning on attending, I guess.  But he made it for the premiere screening later that evening and we were all excited to see him.  Jake was on point, as is evident in the short vids and pics following.  Roll 'em!!

Upon arrival, this was kind of funny and awkward. M&M and I happened to be on the phone watching this (simultaneously with the U.S. Open replay) and we both watched this host of ET Canada deal with his Jake crush, complete with a warm-up cell phone call from "my girlfriend' while waiting on the carpet.  ;-)

He wasted time talking about beards and the last time he saw Jake. Then after Jake moved on, he wasted ticking seconds trying to get Jake in a selfie.  Kind of awkward to watch.

But here are some great pictures of Mr. Jake, complete with flash bulbs, waves, and Jake's on-point carpet presentation, which he is always a pro at.

In black and white,

And a smile is always great:

Hey!

Look Ma, I have my Cartier watch on! Ask me what time it is. ;-)

Well, what do y'all think of that presentation?

Well - that's this author's feeling anyway.  :-)  Knocked out of the ballpark, Jakers!

Have a great Monday, everyone and thank you for tuning in to this edition of Sunday Musings.

Hey! lol. I never know what the spacing on blogger is going to do sometimes, I hate it.

Grrrr. Anyway, sorry to post and run, but the evening is dissipating and I need to let Mercy outside. On the tail end now of this Mercy watching and then I will finally be home for a while. Had to go into the office today too for a few hours, but at least tomorrow morning will be much more under control now.

Is that just not the best picture ever? The one of Kevin and Austin? They are absolutely gorgeous together and the brown color coordination. Gold stars for them - they're like Jared and Jensen with the clothes coordination! They are both beautiful together, love them.

It kind of bums me out that so many of our visitors use their mobiles. How do you guys even see things on your phone?! LOL How can you read? You're missing out on the bigness of the pictures, missing out on the playlist?

That's crazy, but maybe I'm just old fashioned using a laptop. It is just wild to me. I LOVE this version of Never Can Say Goodbye by the Communards. They were a great group, not sure if they're still active or not. But I have several songs of theirs downloaded.
