Of course, Jake and Austin have known each other much longer than 12 years; after all, they met in 2002 - 18 years ago.
But no one ever says a couple has to put a ring on it. They chose to, which says a lot about both men.

That picture from 2016 at the SXSW was so big. So big.
Great overview of our original OTP, PG. They've hung in there thru thick and thin, annoying beards, a meddlesome mother-in-law and Big Sis on the Gyllenhaal side of the clan, and just the everyday challenges of being in the closet. I love that interview you included. That statement was made right after Jake dropped the ol' Reese Witherspoon contractual ball and chain. "Speaking as a married man". One year after tying the knot, I bet Jake couldn't wait to slip that statement into his first interview. And, the reason he was able to marry was because of that window of opportunity that was provided from June-November 2008 in California (five short months), before Proposition 8 made same-sex marriage illegal. Right before he took a flight over to England to begin filming Prince of Persia.
Happy Anniversary guys. I hope you will be able to share a lovely romantic meal together, and fondly reminisce over all those memories. Who knows, with neither one working they might have even taken some extended time for a private getaway together. The beards can take care of the stunt dogs and maybe Eleanor Calder can join them too. Lost in the woods, never to return. Now, that would be the best present ever.
