Sunday Musings: The Swiss Cheese and Happy Clouds from OTP-Land Pt. 1

2020 is the kind of year when you never know what's around the corner.

lol, the spin on that dog...and isn't that just like a cat?  I sometimes watch a cat who bats his sister just like that.

But enough about cats and their batting ways!  As we were saying, 2020 has been a year already and right now, we don't ever know what's coming around the corner.  Here are a few of Narnia's recent eyebrow raisers though, in no particular order.

• Before we get down to the down and dirty, real quickly, first - let's start off with a chuckle raiser.  Nothing has made me smile this year like the Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce saying "rollercoaster tycoon".

And thanks to Travis and Google, I now know that Rollercoaster Tycoon is a video game. 😉

🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂

And now for the Swiss Cheese Nods of the past couple of weeks.  In other words, these stories and narratives from PR teams are shot full of holes.

• Narnia's first slice of Swiss cheese for the snack tray -

Which one of these Chiefs players is not on the current starting squad, wasn't on the starting squad for the 2019 playoffs or Superbowl, yet once again made the practice squad (fourth season in a row) for the 2020 season?  Here he was joining Chiefs starters as they all wished the Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes  birthday greetings?  We'll give you one guess.

Dieter was signed by the Chiefs in 2017 as an undrafted free agent.  Since that time, he has signed, been released, resigned, waived, etc. ever since. From Pro Football Reference, this is the breakdown of the roster changes:

Interesting, isn't it?  In 3 1/2 NFL seasons, Gehrig Dieter has appeared in six (6) games, all six confined to two seasons (2018, 2019), and has one regular season pass reception of 22 yards and one playoff reception of 11 yards, in addition to special teams play.

But he has an abundance of social media "air time", as noted above in the Happy Birthday video to the point where one assumes he must be on the regular starting roster instead of the practice squad:

The following extensive baby announcement was made on October 5, after he had been cut by the Chiefs and nine days before being signed to the practice squad, yet again.

Tweets which acted like he was on the Super Bowl squad, when he wasn't - he was on the practice squad.

At the Super Bowl (even though there are a certain number of practice squad players who accompany the team in case of injury), hanging with the first squad-ers.

This Chiefs Training Camp 2020 video even though again, he did not make the regular roster:

This is but a wee bit of sampling, but you get the drift.  Get used to his name around these Narnia parts because he seems to be destined to be around for an extended time.

Our second slice of Swiss Cheese

By the end of September, it would appear members of the Gyllynicholsgaard Squad are possibly already moving into position in preparation for October 17, Baby Tile #1 Son's birthday.

Austin appeared out of nowhere, allegedly motorbiking through the Ozarks (from Texas) and we're supposed to notice how he's recklessly passing on a double line.  You don't reckon he could possibly be a father by driving so recklessly and laissez-faire, do you?  And so who was in the truck filming???

And then by the next day, Austin was in Michigan along with the bro-in-law and nieces and nephew (with no sister Ashley in sight).

Our third slice of Swiss cheese:

From the other side of the Gyllynicholsgaard family, here was Maggie bike riding with ex-husband Peter while she's supposedly filming The Lost Daughter in Greece.  Rather interesting, isn't it, to be riding a bike while wearing a long, billowy gauze dress?  Maybe this was a deleted scene from Il Postino??

Earlier, here was Twitter telling us on September 28 that Maggie was going to be tied up filming her directorial debut for 28 days,

"The shoot is expected to last 28 days."

28 days?

But...October 17?!!  What about...what about Baby Tile's ascension into teenage-hood on October 17???  Why, that means Aunt Maggie would miss this most momentous milestone birthday! Why, I...I...

Ohhhh....

Shhhhh, we get it now!  😉

Our fourth slice of Swiss cheese

Goes to the trio of marketer Jacquelyn Dahl and her star client Patrick Mahomes for staging an engagement AND a baby announcement (not in that order), with "high school sweetheart" Brittany Matthews. Both of these stories coming during a global pandemic as well as the NFL football season.  Dahl knows how to stage a splashy headline on the heels of spotlight events.  Take the engagement, for example.  When did this usually personal and private life event take place?  The same night that the Chiefs team received their Super Bowl rings at Arrowhead Stadium, an event that was live streamed on You Tube by the Chiefs.  And so what was a team event became a personal event for the star QB1.  Here below was one of the stadium suites "decked out" for the moment.

Complete with a video of the special moment and photos provided by and credited to a professional photographer.

As you can see at the bottom, giving a business plug while they were at it:

This People.com, TMZ and social media feedbag was followed  by a Thursday Night game with the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 28, a competition that was touted and lauded as a Mahomes vs. 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson duel for the ages.  Both teams were undefeated.  Well, Lamar Jackson came up short under the pressure and Patrick had an excellent game; he had never looked sharper.  Number 15's performance was topped off on the field with another Patrick digital countdown captured by the cameras, this one meant as a smack on the hand to the rest of the league's players for ranking him 4th on the NFL Top 100 Players poll.

Yes, we agree, Patrick.  It was indeed a quite questionable ranking.  But what wasn't needed was Brittany Matthews returning to her tasteless social media ways, ones which are a poor reflection on an organization which seems to pride itself on professionalism.  We apologize to our readers for the NSFW and offensive gesture, but one has to wonder why this kind of behavior is not reined in by anyone, particularly Patrick, who's supposed to be "the face of the NFL".

Aah well, what do we know about public relations and marketing?  Amazingly, the very next day, after the big win and that "pristine" flip-off move, the following announcement was made,

LOL! From flipping the bird to the NFL masses to Glamour Shot.  So after a couple of seasons of this,

and more helpings of such,

to lace and baby blue.  See how that's done?

after allegedly spending seven years together and becoming betrothed, a "detour" is made?  During a pandemic?  But it's because of a pandemic, that some Hollywood "couples" have decided it's the perfect time to suddenly become pregnant or spring "Guess what, I had a baby!" news on their fans.  For some, like actress Michelle Williams, it means they don't need to be seen and don't have to worry about a Beyonce baby bump fail.

An announcement can be made and the parties don't need to be saddled with pap walks.  Of course, baby bump pictures are still a must, however, so Instagram is the way they are distributed.  With Instagram, the pictures are under the publicist/celebrity's control. The lighting is perfect, perhaps black and white is used to help hide manpulation, and much decreased chance of a visual slip up.

Perhaps Narnia's fave Travis can provide more heads-up tips in the future, like he did back in August when he seemed to be providing a winky-wink to the future.  Listen to him at 00:04, when he addresses Patrick.

"How're the wife and kids?"

Ha!  Not exactly low key, was it?  That was too easy! Next time, maybe not so obvious.  Besides, it doesn't look like Patrick was quite seeing the funny in that joke. 😉

• One more slice off of the brick of Swiss Cheese goes to double-winner, Maggie Gyllenhaal, for her and WME's use of brother Jake to help draw attention to her movie, The Lost Daughter, which was or has been filming in Greece.  How did she do that, you might wonder?  When a meme theme keeps running through Jake's social media search of how much he looks like an actor named Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

This particular tweet even shoehorned a Narnia subject (from 2018, mind you!) from years past, Calgon "Caglar" Ertugrul, into the tweet. This is a good time to mention that our 2018 post about Calgon (and how Jake's people used this "doppelganger" theme to flood Jake's twitter search with a fake meme) as you can see now, somebody went through and deleted alot of Calgon's Instagram content that we had used for evidence.  LOL!! Talk about Swiss cheese.  They riddled that post with deleted pictures.  But that's okay.  It was a tough lesson to learn and this author knows better now.

and one more for good luck (although this isn't even a tip of the iceburg of how many tweets there are like this),

In all languages, with all sorts of "photographic evidence" of the incredible "likeness", all the while repeating Cohen's name over and over and who is in Maggie's movie, The Lost Daughter?   Oh, that's right, Oliver Jackson-Cohen.  Big Sis once again using her brother for clicks and future paying viewers.

And finally, since it's no secret that I have commented on Spn Goss since 2014, where I was first drawn to do so after the "shoulder injury" stunt at JibCon and driven to share my own thoughts, unpopular as they were.  It's always been a hate-hate relationship, lol.  But when one can't even admit when a picture is clearly photo-shopped, one should question what's going on.  It started with my comment regarding the news of Genevieve Padalecki joining Jared's new show Walker and playing his late wife, which led to the accusation by one of the posters who said my belief that Jensen and Jared were the ones really raising the children, was "far from reality".

And if the belief is that "far from reality", then why does their team need to photo shop the ladies into "family photos"? Seems like a reasonable question, right?  This photo right here which was discussed in our post, Step Up to the JibCon Bar - Denials for Everyone! from May 2019,

Which, if you look at it on a cell phone or Ipad, you are probably going to miss that it is indeed photoshopped.  Let's take yet another look at Danneel's two hands where the conjoining of two different people's hands/fingers is taking place.

And I'm clearly told by a photoshop "artist" that I couldn't have been more wrong that the photo above was a composite:

" 'no, dude. Just no."   Oh?

LOL!  But then, it got even better when a long-time nemesis also told me how bad my eyes were, I guess.

"They were posing for a happy family bearding picture, of course the beard is going to be in it."

lol.  Oh, she was "in it" alright.  Like a Colorform®.

Well, this post could go on into the night, but it's been going on long enough.  After all, we've got even better and certainly more gentle "stuff" in Part 2.  On to the gentler sharing, yes, let's do that.

Sunday Musings: Doppelgangers, Photo Pile-On's and Josh Duhamel Chatter

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, everyone! We are were getting pelted with snow right now in JoCo, Kansas earlier today. Glad the game-time snacks were purchased last night instead of trying to fight the crowds and snow.  Will be interesting to see how this game turns out, won't it?   And doesn't it seem like now we need spoiler warnings for the Super Bowl commercials?  Stop showing previews of the ads!  #ComeOn

1)  Where to go first?  Let's go with funny:

Couldn't resist sharing this picture after our post on cell phone security experiences with a certain stalking Management team.  ;-)   Mr. Chris Pine with the flip phone!  *thumbs up, Mr. Pine*

2)  And since this is Super Bowl Sunday and some folks might be eating some deli sliders, it seems a good time to bring up the subject of "piling on" or "layering".  Similar to this,

wrong profession...more like this...

but think more like with people, not bacon and avocado.  LOL!

This is what you call Studying Hinky Pics for Dummies Like Myself.  Take a few of the latest pics from Camp Padalecki.

Supposedly from Jan 28 and with the beard in Canada:

A post shared by Genevieve Padalecki (@nowandgen) on

And then a few of the latest from the last couple of days:

 and,

Perhaps rather than trying to worry so much about merging and having to maneuver hands, arms, and the intertwining of said body appendages,  it's no doubt easier to just lay pictures on top of one another.  There's a plentiful amount of directions on how to do it - probably one of the basics of photoshop,

How to blend photographs and remove random people from the background

Combine multiple images into a group portrait in Adobe Photoshop

I love this intro line from an article on a website called Mashable.com:

That photo from dinner last night could have been this year's perfect Christmas card, but your little brother was at baseball practice and isn't in the picture.

Your mom looks at you, the tech guru of the family, and asks hopefully, "Can you just Photoshop him in?"

Knowing how to Photoshop a person into a photograph isn't just a great way to familiarize yourself with basic photo editing skills - it's also a practical skill to have in the digital age In the tutorial below, you'll learn how to cut and resize an image, adjust a layer mask and modify color levels. - How to PhotoShop People Into Pictures

And just for chuckles,

Worst Celebrity Photoshop Fails on Instagram

Take a look at Arlo in the Genevieve Instagram photos - again, a photo where one of the subjects is "popping in" from a side. Lots of darkness around, why is that?  Where does Jared's clothing end and the couch upholstery begin?

Something to watch for as well is "when" photos are released.  What is the location listed?  Perhaps the subjects really were together, but the background is really manipulated. I don't question every single photo all the time,  but bearding photos?  With this crew? Heck, yeah.

3)  And speaking of photo manipulation, this story certainly caught Narnia's eye.  A gossip site calling out a gossip rag for photoshopping. LOL!  That's a new one, isn't it?  Naming names, taking no prisoners.

On the cover of OK magazine this week is this story on Josh Duhamel and Ben Affleck's "ex", Jennifer Garner:

And Gossip Cop threw down the gavel in their story entitled Josh Duhamel Did NOT Meet Jennifer Garner's Kids .  In the story, the site's author uses words like "alleged", "narrative" and "supposed".  They accuse OK of digitally editing Duhamel into the picture and sprinkle the story with quite a salting of "air quotes"The story is a written tongue lashing to be sure, aimed at OK magazine for their insinuations and false reporting!  Granted, OK is not exactly top shelf tabloid reporting, lol.

But the hanging out to dry of the magazine's front page story makes us take notice, nonetheless.  If the story is false, then why the misleading to begin with?  Is it just a case of another "debunking" for the sake of publicizing a mis-lead?  If you know what we mean???

Updated 09 24 2020 - The following section you will notice has been decimated by the deletion of numerous photos from the Instagram account of Calgon "Caglar" Ertugrul. They're gone.  Pfft!   Hmm.  Just by looking at the sheer number of deleted photos, it seems pretty accurate and safe to say that Narnia nailed this observation a little too efficiently.  These early posts of Narnia were made with the naivete of believing social media pictures and tweets are forever.  Which they are not.  Management makes screenshots and downloads accurate examples like this so that they can go back later and start scrubbing the Exhibit A's from the internet.  Now, we know to preserve in our files.  But back in 2018?  Meh.  But it's an utter delight to look at this post and see the scrub*scrub*scrub that happened at some point.  😏  Enjoy nonetheless!

4)  And finally, for the last several years, there has been a Turkish actor showing up in Jake Gyllenhaal's social media search.  There would be a periodic tweet or two comparing pictures of the two men and how much this young man by the name of "Caglar Ertugrul" looks like Jake.  Let's compare for ourselves:

Mr. C E:

and then, of course, our Mr. Jakester himself:

i.e. the following:

Even comparing twosome pics such as this:

clothing...

over the years....from 2015 (you thought I was kidding when I said over the last several years, didn't you?)

and 2014, 2013, 2012:

Well, guess how far back tweets do go, comparing these two men?  October of 2012.   Isn't that interesting?

Mr. Ertugrul is on Twitter and Instagram.  Guess when his Instagram account started?  December of 2012.

That's also kind of interesting, especially since so many things began to change for Jake in 2012 - what a year that was for Jake, Austin and the family, but in particular for Jake, who was alleged to have "moved" to New York City and changed from CAA to WME, now Endeavor.

Looking through Mr. Ertugrul's Instagram is also interesting.  Notice how (in addition to having a similar physical build) he wears similar styles to Jake:

The Northface jacket:

Cargo shorts:

Fur lined hoods:

The white T:

And then we noticed that while Mr. E is a Turkish actor in both television and film, he has been to America, several times that we can see just from Instagram.  And where in America?  New York City.  Imagine that!

Say for instance November 2015,

December of last year 2017:

Do you see yet where we're going with this?

So, as evident in a Twitter search, since 2012, there have always been many tweets linking this Turkish actor to Jake, placing both of their names in the same tweet.  But a couple of days ago, there were two tweets which were actually repeating in Jake's search, something that is uncommon, and frankly - very unlikely.  Usually, the tweets get only a handful of likes and retweets.  But these two tweets got a bit more than that, which caught my side-eye.

And when the tweets take on a self-elevating nonsensical tone like this one did:

One needs to take a second look.  So looking at the physical similarities and now at the clothes Mr. E has worn, aside from the fact that he is several inches taller than Jake, it suddenly hits us that indeed Jake just may have the perfect doppelganger.

One who has visited New York City.  One who has grown a beard.  One who has styled his hair like Jake,

Could there be a quid pro quo going on here?  Has Mr. Ertugrul's likeness come in irresistibly handy and thus, opportunistic for Jake's team?????

Ohhhhhh, the trouble we here at Narnia can get into when a PR social media team goes overboard.  Not throwing down the gavel on this one, but there very well is something going on with this coincidence of all coincidences.

Let's just clarify something however.

There is only ONE Jake Gyllenhaal.  And there really isn't any amount of spoonfeeding otherwise which will cause or create anyone else to come close in comparison.

Happy Sunday!!!  Enjoy the game!
