Behold the Emasculation Proclamation! The Outer Layer Stripping of the OTP Leader (Part 3 of 3)

Last, but certainly not least, our third featured, squashed and Gumby'd OTP half?   Mr. Jared Padalecki.

 With Austin, it was about alleged twitter DM's to underage girls and public demeaning by his most recent beard, Chloe Bennet.  With Louis, it was about the creation of a baby, denouncing of Larry and a very public airport exhibition.   With Jared?  It's been about "unstable behavior" associated with mental illness and a repressed anger/frustration due to the hapless bearding contract he is in. The situation has seen Jared transition from a relaxed, confident intellect to a fragile man in need of round-the-clock care-taking.

Just some samplings of the rants which have been posted on Jared's twitter and/or Facebook:

 

 


 
Were these really from Jared or from someone with access to his twitter?  These below are quite homophobic; somehow I doubt they are from Jared, but they are designed to sound homophobic and Mgmnt's thinking is "How could he be gay and say something like that?"


 


 



Then there was the famous Minnesota Hotel Ivy incident of 2016:


Jared Padalecki Sandy Hudspeth Thank you for voicing your opinions and your concern. You are, of course, entitled to both. As far as last night goes, I didn't receive "poor service". I didn't have mustard instead of mayonnaise on my burger, and she didn't give me too many or too few cubes of ice in my drink. The picture of her playing on her phone was the NICEST thing she did during the course of the evening...... No. I was subjected to a mean, spiteful human being. Period. She was mean. She was a bully. She, specifically, did several things that hurt mine (and our) feelings. She made me feel singled out and not welcome and "less than" (maybe you've been in the same situation before?). She ruined my night (if not my trip) in Minnesota. Furthermore, I'm not incredibly happy to have you express that you believe I'm not entitled to share my concerns or unhappiness because I'm a "celebrity". That's akin to the people who told me that I should be "happy" because I'm "successful", and that I shouldn't have "depression" or "anxiety" because "famous people" are so "lucky". And I very much don't appreciate being victim shamed, even though I'm "famous" and should just "deal with it and keep quiet about it". At the end of the day, I am a human being that breathes oxygen. The same as you. And, sometimes, there are people who hurt my feelings intensely and I want to reach out to my social media family to express my hurt  (edit)

Then, there are those "events/incidents" which are surrounded with question marks, missing socks, leftover Lego pieces and whatnot.
Take several of the JibCon Supernatural conventions for instance.  In particular, the Jus in Bello (JibCon) of 2014.  Chaos ensued on that Saturday the 24th and Jared's public persona to the fans has never been the same since.

It's still not been clear to me when the infamous "hotel lobby Misha Collins Swipe" took place in Saturday's schedule, but it happened just prior to the "shoulder injury" and Jared's "cancellation" from the remainder of that day's convention activities. In the following video, Jared is clearly not joking around when he chases Collins, who is indeed cowering under Jared's hold:


 

I'm sorry, but look at the expression on Jared's face as he spots Collins and then takes a swipe at him. That is not the face of someone "playfully horse playing" around.

Yeah, I'd say Jared was a bit upset about something, anyone else? Likely because he knew what was going to transpire that day? That he was going to have to hit the deck (literally), disappear for the day, and thereby clear the stage for that "Cocklest convention ever!" And just how was Jared "moved aside" for the day?

Apparently he fell on a piece of paper and fell down and dislocated his shoulder. Well thats what one tweeter said. - Spn Gossip

"Jared’s panel on Sunday 25th May in Rome at JIBCon 2014. He had missed his Saturday panel, after tripping and bruising his shoulder."

Despite Jared returning the next day to participate in convention activities with a makeshift sling, he went on later to have surgery, about a month later: 

In the opening minutes of the video directly below, Jared says (after a slight hesitation) that he had a "broken arm and torn rotator cuff" at a Comic Con held July 24-27. He says he had surgery "about a month ago", which places surgery around June 27. The injury occurred May 24, which translates to Jared walking around with a broken arm and serious rotator cuff injury for a month before surgery was performed. What is surprising about this besides the fact that the two injuries combined should be pretty painful, is that surgery would be delayed during what is already a limited summer hiatus. Why would you wait a month and thus delay his return to filming unnecessarily? And then there's that whole X-ray/MRI thing, two tests which are usually quick and accurate to diagnose a break and when exactly were they taken?  Too many unanswered questions.
 


Then came 2015 and the second year in a row that Jared's appearance at a Jus in Bello convention was jeopardized, and in fact proved to be non-existent.

From what Misha told me, I understood that Jared isn't just "sick". I think he is under a lot of stress and he may be depressed too.
I truly believe something happened to him. Misha tried to joke but he couldn't ...

Misha said Jared has been pushing himself too hard and he probaly couldn't take it so he and Jensen and the others told him to take it easy -   [edit. - Spn_Gossip]

Jared has pushed himself to his limits and is suffering from exhaustion.  - 


 

Interestingly enough, just prior to this JIB2015 absence, Variety had published a story, " 'Supernatural star Jared Padalecki Talks Depression and Why You Should Always Keep Fighting " - source

A doctor came to set and talked to me for about 30 minutes or 45 minutes and said: “Jared, I think you’re clinically depressed. I think I should write you a note and we can shut down production for five days and then we can take it from there.” -  Jared P.

The Always Keep Fighting campaign was started in March 2015, inspired by several factors according to Jared: losing set stand-in Matt Riley to suicide, the urging of colleague Stephen Amell, who had a campaign established in the fight against cancer, and his own personal experience with depression.

There isn't enough space to go into deeper detail really about either JIB Con 2014 or JIB Con 2015.  They both could have a post by themselves.  There isn't a Supernatural/J2 fan who is not familiar with either dramatic ordeal. There were many unanswered questions with both incidents resulting in Jared's major absence in one of the conventions and complete absence in the other. When a third absence would have tipped the cart of suspicious activity, the beard Genevieve was brought in and she provided more than sufficient disruption.

 Ever since these times, Jared has been depicted as fragile, in need of protection/looking after, and perpetually on the verge of another breakdown.
It's hard to imagine this "old" Jared from the past several years:

In summary....


This has been a bit of a read for a crisp Fall day (for some, it may take a week - LOL!), but a comparative narrative was necessary to illustrate that the emasculation of one-half of an OTP is actually a common practice in the entertainment industry. In other words, it is not an isolated phenomenon or aberrational curiosity. All three of these guys have been vilified and marginalized to sap their power and influence within their respective fandoms. 

The technique succeeds on many levels. Fans are pitted against one another as sides are taken; which strengthens the hand of management teams in terms of manipulation and emotional abuse. The tool also elevates one of the pair over the other which undermines the notion that the perceived couple are compatible or supportive of one another. In other words, how could these two even be together? Or, stay together for that matter. Separation is the key. One is the golden boy, the chosen one, and the other is the bad boy, the troublemaker, or in Louis' case, the chav. What's important to remember is that the latter is the one management fears the most. The one with the voice which must be silenced. And, whose influence needs to be diminished. In reality, PR would not be so aggressive or purposeful if the couple were still not together, fighting the system that insists that their love dare not speak its name.

Morning Musings.....in the Evening


A few musings from the past couple of days:

•  The appearance of Jared and Genevieve Padalecki at the Texas State Capitol to "advocate" for David's Law (legislation that holds cyber bullying as a criminal act when it leads to the injury or death of a minor) was very much an eye catcher.  The headlines online read that they were there in support, even though the law had already passed the House and the Senate in earlier May, and now awaiting the formality of the Texas governor's signature.  At this point, their guest attendance is very much fandom contained, the visual message very strong that they are a "family" and as Genevieve states in the video while laying a physical claim on Jared's arm, "I am the wife of this guy over here, Jared" and she's also "here I am a mom, we have three children".  Her speech clearly was an opportunity to reiterate the mental images of her and Jared's marrying, establishing their "home", raising "their family", "us", "we", "our", well you get the message.   So many events like this are exactly for this reason - to establish a picture.  To reinforce an image or narrative.  Just like the Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder airport video, which included a very distinct quote from Louis about "my girlfriend".   Or, like Jake Gyllenhaal saying in 2009 at a Brothers movie press conference, "Obviously I exist in my girlfriend's world".  In both Louis and Jake's case, these were quite distinct and rare references.



For space conservation, we won't even go into the whole American Airlines agent....Delta bag check...."barmaid"....uh,... "hotel employee"....online activity and that whole thing called irony.

And if all of that wasn't enough yesterday, the beard Genevieve is back on Twitter today to pound home that family image again.





•  Then we have the ever subtle, rainbow flag waving, complementary tattoo loving, color pink embracing Harry Styles and the swarm of ham-handed speculations that follow him wherever he goes.  





This time the inevitable, tiresome opposite sex discussions centered around the subjects of his self-titled album, which was just released on May 12th.  Once the record dropped, here came the predictable, reassuring “I like girls” articles with rumors about “Two Ghosts” being a nostalgic remembrance of his “fling” with Taylor Swift. Everyone in the know, soon to be told that the Internet was absolutely abuzz about the subject of the song track immediately following its release. No doubt, jump started by that meddlesome Larrie fandom who indicated immediately that the lyrics and context pointed to Louis Tomlinson, Harry's long-time boyfriend and bandmate.  Hey there, Louis. Looking good!



The manufactured songwriting discussion, however, served the intended purpose of distributing a myriad of articles to appear with the phrase, "Harry Styles’ ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift".


Once that lyric controversy wound down, a new one quickly emerged, this time spotlighting the heterosexualized song entitled, “Carolina”. In quick succession, story after story (conveniently accompanied by hot pics) about how the now proclaimed “love” song was all about someone named, Townes Adair Jones. Gasp! The unconventional name attached to a simple girl next door type, with a side boob pic ready for circulation.



                               She needs to take better care of herself, don’t you think?


A perfectly concocted, made to seem real, life connection (with a detailed backstory at the ready) to lend more credence to Harry's musical "inspiration". No one need be suspicious because Townes Adair Jones was no stranger, just a friend of Cameron Azoff, Jeff’s younger brother.  Being that Jeff is Harry’s manager, the alleged hook up becomes a very cozy one, don’t you think? After an eye rolling resignation of what spoon fed narrative is about to come, the close relationship angle is an easily recognizable PR technique. A stunt almost as incestuously familiar as Jake Gyllenhaal’s mother and sister introducing him repeatedly to almost all of his beards, I mean “girlfriends," throughout the years. 



Fast forward back to “Carolina” and the obviousness of the manipulation is explained away by articles stating that the fans were the busybodies who found all of this "private" information out, just within a week of the album drop. In other words, the girl must be real because the fans discovered the “hook up”. The side effect importantly distancing management from the stunt. Rolling Stone piled on by sensationalizing the ever changing details of the story by indicating that Townes was only 17 when Harry, ahem, did the deed. Because that's what real heterosexual men do you know. They don't just go out on a date and have dinner.

Only when the 1D fandom blew up about "Carolina" being underage, did management decide to change the story to her being legal, which pointed yet again to Harry having bedded her. Now, she became a 20-year old who Harry met through her sister when he began working on his album last year. The date soon turning into a one night stand. Oh, and how did she find out the song was about her? Well, her dad told her because he just happened to be in the crowd of the "Today" show when Harry debuted the tune, immediately recognizing who the musician was pining about. That's right, her dad. Because every girl tells her father about her solo sex nights. Do you have a headache yet?



Interestingly, enough it appears that no one cares a lick who Niall Horan is writing about when he releases a song. Even with explicitly steaming lyrics like are found on “Slow Hands.”  For the life of me, I absolutely cannot figure out why that would be. Can you? *grin*

• The following picture of Austin Nichols appeared on Twitter this past week and it deemed worthy of a re-posting.  The young man handing Austin the snogging on his left is Patrick J. Flueger, a former Lawless Range co star of his,  while the other gentleman is not known.  Nor is it known who the original source of the picture is.  But nonetheless...




Pretty dandy stuff, eh?   ;-)

•  And finally, there was this glorious and fascinating Twitter exchange between Mark Sheppard, former cast member of the television show Supernatural and executive producer of the show, Jim Michaels.




Isn't that something?  You don't even need any fandom background to see that this was no faux saltiness going on.  Mark Sheppard is not returning to the show next year as his character Crowley was killed off in the season finale.  He also has made it known that he was not invited to any Creation - Supernatural conventions in 2018. Fans were in an uproar and yet a few (or one? always hard to tell on that site) anon voices on Spn_Goss seemed to want to downplay the speculation and turn the blame onto Mark Sheppard.  Interesting.  And this was quite an informative tumblr post by one individual on their observations:

The simultaneous combined freeze from both the television show and Creation Entertainment would certainly seem worthy of a second, very hard glance.
