For Jake and Austin? Their day was June 16

Belated Happy Anniversary, fellas.   Thanks to all of the extracurricular online activities which were highly promoted to have started the evening of June 15 and ensued throughout the 16th, the guys themselves have pretty much confirmed the 16th is their special day.   :-)

8 years of legally wedded BLISS!!!!

If you were thinking of a gift for the boys, it would be pottery/bronze.

And, why do we think Jake and Austin are married to each other. Let's have a pleasant and very informative stroll down memory lane, shall we?:

OMG Overview-Discussion of Jake and Austin’s Marriage

There is a lot of great information in that post regarding Jake's married man status, but the most important clue of all is that the speculation about the topic came from a direct quote made by Jake Gyllenhaal himself. And, unlike previous convoluted, impenetrable and just plain muddled interviews that are commonplace with Jake, this particular interview is set apart from others by the serious tone that is maintained throughout. For once, Jake isn't goofing around or talking in circles; he is direct and plainspoken, without a hint of guile or concealment. This time there is no flippancy or facetiousness. He simply confirms that he is a married man. Moreover, since the character Jake played in Brothers was not married, no one can suggest that he was talking about his role in the movie either. To make sure Jake got his message out there, he purposely qualified the sentence with the unmistakable "myself" pronoun so there would be no confusion that he was referring to anyone, but himself.

Cinemasource.com interview with Jake Gyllenhaal, December 2009 - Brothers PR junket":

"I don't have a brother, thank God!" he says, "I do have a brother-in-law now, but that would be weird. Anyway, I believe that I think that we all have a great ability to move towards 'Our impulse is anger' or 'Our impulse is violence'. I think I speak for myself as a married man that there are things that come in what you want to do, what you feel like you should do, and what you should do."

The understandable question to ask at this point is why would Jake suddenly want to go on record as being married? Well, let's just say that timing and temperament can explain an awful lot. Back in December 2009, Jake had just very publicly "broken up" with his high profile beard, Reese Witherspoon. Ted Casablanca, the gossip columnist, notorious for his Toothy Tile Blind Item about Jake, made it very clear that Reese dumped him. Not the other way around.

Nine months later, a number of clues directly lead to Austin and Jake having another baby in August 2010. Given this context, I would not be surprised at all that even though the initial bearding contract was not set to expire yet, Reese didn't want to have anything more to do with Jake's expanding Family Tile shenanigans. Her career, for instance, had been tanking since her tabloid fauxmance with Jake. On top of that, Jake did not show up for "family" Thanksgiving photos with her in November 2009, and generally wasn't providing her with the lovey dovey couple photo ops she had been promised. It was speculated, at the time, that since she had an opportunity to co-star with the hottest young actor around, Robert Pattinson from Twilight fame, she was hoping to get better PR traction on that front and dumped Jake, who in 2006 was considered the "It Guy", but whose market value had dropped appreciably. On top of all this, Prince of Persia, which was going to be released in May 2010, was already not panning out with critics; unlikely to become the blockbuster Jake had hoped for. By December 2009, Reese had already provided covered for two Baby Tile births and saw no benefit with staying for another birth.

Jake, of course, was unexpectedly left without hetero cover, when Reese left him high and dry that December. Despite all this chaos, he was happy as could be with a new baby on the way and a life partner he had been with since 2002. Ted, in fact, wrote at the time about how Toothy (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Grey Goose (Austin Nichols) were the real thing and deeply in love. That Toothy was "true blue." As a result, Jake going on the record for an online interview and being quoted as saying that he was "a married man" was both an act of rebellion, one easily denied if someone called him on it, and a shout out to a family life he had been unable to contractually acknowledge.

Personally, I also think that back in those halcyon days Jake left many a clue about his fatherhood status and his husband so that if he were outed unexpectedly, or if he wanted to come out on his own, that the damage control would not be as difficult to pull off.

Thanks, M&M, for your research and you really did nail it on the legal wedding date. Could it have ever been more apparent than this year?

With the help of closet enabler Josh McDermitt and the beard, Austin's "whereabouts" were documented by their social media from the evening of Wed the 15th through the ensuing 24 hours. Perfectly blanketing the 16th. The 16th was this little Smokie in the Pillsbury dough of time. A little pig in the blanket, if you will. LOLLL !!

Not the 12th. Not today the 18th. But the 16th. Framed and book-ended perfectly.

Management is the burning flame on the candle of stupidity, lol.

That was quite a day on OMG, wasn't it? You know, with my looking back for information for my Tumblr, OMG has really proven to be a valuable archive of information and it's an ongoing time capsule. I can't express how important it is to hang onto your blogs, even if they're not that active anymore. The comments and the announcements as they happened. The links, whether they still exist or not, also are great records.

Well, if anything I certainly don't need to pay a trip to Pet Smart to watch the hamsters on their wheels because I've got Jake & Austin to watch at any minute in time. LOLLLLL!!!!

Take your pick. Either they're on the hamster wheel or you could throw them all under the big top and call it a circus weekend.

I'm going to tell their people and Austin in particular one thing. I'm not really quite sure why they're going to so much extracurricular activity? I'm not going to boo-hoo into my woobie towel like Marcia Brady and stay in my bedroom, never to emerge again.

As long as I'm alive & able to read/write on this earth, I'm in this thing for the long haul. I've seen some really bad stuff from both of these guys and have I gone anywhere? No.

Saves me the money from buying a ticket to Barnum & Bailey, I reckon, that's how I look at it.

LOL! ;D

Even though the California Supreme Court ruled on May 15, 2008 about the legal standing of same sex marriages, actual marriage licenses for same sex couples only became available on June 16th. Whereas, our men had four and one-half months to tie the knot, (the actual window of opportunity being June 16, 2008-November 5, 2008 to be legally married in California), Jake is known to be a romantic sap. As a result, there is no doubt in my mind that he wanted to get married the very first day that he could.

Besides Jake's desire to tie the knot as soon as the opportunity presented itself, Maggie, Peter, and Mommie Dearest were all congregating in Los Angeles durinng the weekend of June 14, 2008, as well. Austin, on the other hand, who had been missing in action for months, suddenly popped up in Michigan on June 17th, where he made sure to be seen filming a parade scene for Prayers for Bobby.

Around mid-May, rumors had already started to circulate, as a distraction, that Jake and Reese were going to be engaged any day now, followed by Jake moving in with Reese. Odd stories to be floating around at that particular time, considering that Jake was about to leave the country to film Prince of Persia overseas for, at least, four months.

Jake, in fact, left the US for England on Friday, June 20th to begin prepping/rehearsing for PoP. After that, Austin is only seen on July 15th at the ESPY AWARDS. After that, Austin literally disappears again and is not seen until October 2008 when he begins filming OTH. In the meantime, he admits to have traveled to Europe that summer, ostensibly to promote a film with his brother in-law in Italy right next door to Morocco where, coincidentally, Jake is filming Prince of Persia

I'm sure this provocative sequence of events was probably all just a matter of innocent and unrelated coincidences. Right?

By the way, June 15th (2008) was Father's Day, and Jake was not seen anywhere. Nor was he seen on June 16th. California Marriage Licenses and official civil wedding ceremonies began at 5:01 p.m on Monday (the 16th).

My buddy Patrick, one of my goosestile twitter followers saw Jake & Austin having breakfast/brunch together at Coogie's over the weekend the first week of June of 2008.

Coogie's is where? In Malibu

Ah, yes. Malibu. Where Jake bought property in 2006 and where he and Austin had been spotted on many, many occasions since then. Hanging near the Pacific Coast Highway.

I know I was kind of poking fun up there with the hamster wheel/Big Top talk, but it can be comical.

Don't mistake me though, I've got no doubts in my mind on these 2 guys, Jake & Austin. And I love that they're still obviously so together still, despite the odds against them.
