Anatomy of a Hug

Just watch the pictures.

And you knew there had to be a finger-point sneaked in there, even with Ang Lee.

Behind the formal stage, some nice pics:

This event took place last night (Oct. 28) where Ang Lee won the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence at the 2016 AMD British Academy Britannia Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.  An incredible honor for Jake and it is very evident the fondness and affection that Ang Lee felt during the presentation.  Just curious if that small statuette in Jake's hand somehow affected his past history of returning a hug?

Just curious.

These pictures just struck out at me as soon as I saw them first on Twitter, then after seeing all of them on IHJ and I want to give Jake the benefit of the doubt that he was afraid of clunking Ang Lee in the head with that statuette? But why wouldn't you just lower your arm and circle it around Ang's waist?

I am totally touched by the affection in Ang's face and touch in the pictures. Jake was so much younger when Ang directed him in Brokeback. What an honor Jake had to present this award. A big honor.

Ang Lee just seems to me such a humble man and the epitome of class and art. Would you have ever heard Ang Lee talking about Jake's body hair to promote the movie? Don't think so.

Would love to see Jake work with Ang Lee again. I see where Ang's latest movie stars Kristen Stewart. I'll be curious to find some interviews on how Ang Lee sees her as an actress and how she is to work with.

Well, it's just me, Mulva and J Peterman tonight and all day tomorrow. We're hanging out at the house so that I don't have to kennel them because I leave for half an hour and they get into some cookies that I bought at the craft fair today!!!! Took them right off the kitchen counter and left the shredded box on the living room rug.

I know, it was my fault. I guess I didn't realize it must have been within reach. There went my dessert tonight. Grrrrrrr.

Another movie, another press junket, another round of grade A prime Kool Aid from Jake. Here's a cup from a pitcher prepared, served and also drank by...

“Honesty, it seems, really can be the best policy if you want to make changes in life.” - Jake Gyllenhaal, 35
the source

The source is actually from the Times.uk but since they wouldn't let me read w/o letting them have my cookies, I'm not using their link. The recycled interview is on IHJ.

That quote - was he serious? Or is JakeWorld becoming a real place?

Monster Mash!! Lol..love it! I have to say I loved those pictures. It was great to see Jake honestly engaged for a change. He looked actually happy and proud to be there. Eng deserves it too.

Ha ha ha, oh I know, love Monster Mash! Today's song is another classic, can't wait! I love Halloween. The dressing up, the songs, Halloweentown and Ghostbusters and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, the decorations, the candy, all of it. I'm so glad I get to be home on Halloween. I miss my decorations, lights and candles, everything.

And I agree, the pictures were great. And Jake looks pleased to see Ang Lee. I just didn't understand what looked to me like a reserved hug when usually, he's quite effusive with them. The pictures of Ang's tender gestures were just so beautiful. He was the teacher looks like to me. A wonderfully gifted and humble teacher.

Ang Lee has a big list of awards and credits to his name, doesn't he?

Very happy Cleveland won last night. They do the American League proud!

Yes he does, deservedly so. I'm sure Jake and Heath both learned a lot from him.

"I just didn't understand what looked to me like a reserved hug when usually, he's quite effusive with them."

Maybe he hugged him with his other hand that we couldn't see? Just a thought. Anyway, it looked like the exchange was genuine which is what's most important.
