Power, Lies, Corruption, Chaos: Even on A Red Carpet

Since it’s a leisurely Saturday afternoon, let’s not get too deep into the weeds, but for the record, it’s important to document a quite curious interview which occurred on June 6, 2017. The place was London, England. The event, the 14th Annual Glamour Awards ceremony. For the purposes of this particular post, Liam Payne is the individual of note, in attendance to present the Man of the Year Award to James Corden.

For those following the antics™ of the 1D hiatus, one cannot ignore the many strange and stunt-filled narratives that have been pushed relentlessly and strategically, since January 2016. The usual suspects controlling the PR storylines is largely lead by the corporate behemoth of Sony Music, who now owns 75% of Syco and to a lesser extent, Simon Cowell who now only owns 20% of his own company that he founded in 2002.  The key to remember is that despite the seemingly chaotic mess that is 1D these days, an unscrupulous pattern has emerged which is both methodical and premeditated, one that is tailor made to disrupt and weaken the power of the 1D fandom base.

By factionalizing and dividing fans, Sony/Syco have been overseeing a campaign that is perfectly designed to devalue the group’s worth, while alienating and sowing discord among the fiercest and most dedicated fans, the Larries. The latter being the segment of the fandom that believes Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are a couple and have been together since 2010, forcibly closeted against their will. There will be future posts that will provide more context and circumstantial evidence of what has quickly become one of the most vicious and corrupt examples of unfettered capitalism at work.  A system designed to dominate and enslave the performer, bolstered by non-disclosure agreements, iron-clad image rights clauses and contractual prisons that trap performers into unfair and exploitative arrangements. 

If gay performers are especially susceptible to the heavy hand of a homophobic management model, just think how treacherous the existence of a gay couple in the same billion dollar boyband are to the powers that be.  With this in mind, let’s look a little closer at how Sony continues to mock and belittle members of 1D, especially Liam and Louis, even in small ways, to cheapen their reputation and anger their fanbase. 

Interviewer:  Heard you had a little chat with Liam Payne?

Anna Kendrick:  Yeah, yeah. Well I couldn’t give a shit about him, but his better half is…I’m OBSESSED with her…

Interviewer: Cheryl.

Anna K: I keep trying to get her to be my best friend so I uhm I was asking if she was here. The last time I was here at the Glamour Awards I tried to get her to be my best friend. And weirdly and mysteriously she’s not here tonight. I wonder if she heard I was coming? Hey, my best friend, Cheryl. What’s going on there. That’s fine.

Interviewer: Why do you want to befriend her so much?

Anna K:  I don’t know. I really don’t know.  She seems like she’d smell nice.

Interviewer: I think you two should be in a musical together. She can sing. She can dance.

Anna K: That’s a great idea. I’m just hoping her DNA would like magically wash over me.

Notice four things:     

     1)  Anna Kendrick was immediately dismissive of Liam.

     2)  Cheryl and Liam are once again professionally sold as a real couple.

     3)  Cheryl is portrayed as the star in their "relationship". She is presented as the gifted singer
           and dancer, not Liam, the person who actually has a new song out and a music video where he 

     is seen dancing. But, Cheryl who has zilch product to promote, becomes the woman of the
     hour.
  

4)  Cheryl is gorgeous (DNA).

But, but, but Anna Kendrick is not associated with Sony Music you might say?  Well, think again, folks. It’s a small, small world. Even smaller in the entertainment industry where enablers and facilitators are standing in line ready, willing and able to advance their careers by knocking someone else down that the power elites want hammered and packaged in a certain way.

      We already know why Sony/Syco is dedicated to destroying the reputation of Louis Tomlinson.
      One word sums it up:  Larry

                

    But, Liam has his own secret that Sony/Syco want to bury as well. Maybe not as high profile as 
    Louis and Harry's relationship, but certainly a rumor management would love to destroy at every 
    turn.

   This hiatus is not just about devaluing the 1D brand, it's about silencing the gay 
   voices in the fandom. Punishing those who dared to challenge the hetero norms of the music 
   industry and the expiration date on boybands. The side benefit is the undermining of 1Ds       
   support system, sabotaging the ability of the guys to comeback, stronger than ever.  That's the last  
   thing Management wants. And never underestimate the Powers That Be when it comes to pure   
   vindictiveness towards clients who dare to fight for their freedom.
