Don't Be Proud - Accept and Embrace the Moment

At least when it comes to Jake and Austin, right?  Because we Jaustin fans are starving dogs at this point, so when a Milkbone gets tossed into the air, I'm doing this...

LOL, that's a smart dog, huh?  Please sir, can I have some more?

On Friday, June 16, Austin tweeted this:

[Please, do not be alarmed! He is in period costume and not digging into the hubs' Dippity Do for his own experimentation. Let's hope not, right?]

So Austin is reading a Hemingway novel for this tweet he sends out on the 16th.  What's the particular choice he's made?  Farewell to Arms?  Maybe The Old Man and the Sea for we know how Austin loves the water, right?  Or perhaps For Whom the Bell Tolls?

Well, looks like it's none of those; he's chosen The Sun Also Rises.   What's curious about this literary selection is that the setting of the novel doesn't appear at first glance to have any relationship to the movie Austin is currently filming in Texas. Hemingway's story is about post-World War I's "Lost Generation." A novel that explores existential themes of love, death, and the nature of masculinity. The book was published in 1926 in contrast to The Iron Orchard, which has a copyright of 1966. Perhaps June 16th was an important date in the life of Hemingway? No that's not right either. So what could it be? What is the reason, Austin chose that particular novel on June 16th to share with all the world?

As has been mentioned in previous posts, June 16th is a very special day for Jake and Austin. A window of opportunity one might say that was taken in 2008 to be married before Proposition 8 temporarily reversed same sex marriage progress in California the following November. Wedded in a state where a convenient Confidential Marriage law exists to protect the identities of those who choose to keep their vows hidden from the public record. How appropriate because we all know that Jake and Austin do love their secrets. Right, guys?

And, what is the name of the lead character of The Sun Also Rises? Well that would be, Jake Barnes. One of the most famous Jake's in American literature, the narrator of Hemingway's novel and Austin's own little "storyteller". Awwwwww.

We don't see these kinds of shout outs anymore and they're not for any party in particular; it's probably just something that Austin wanted to do for his fella, the special guy in his life, but on a special day.  Simple as that, but romantic as hell.   We are merely a side beneficiary and hey, that's okay.  We'll enjoy and partake in the crumbs of that Milkbone, right?

Embrace the romanticism in our OTP's because presently with several of them, times are lean.  This is why we're here; we love their love for each other.

And on this day, we salute two OTP couples who are doing the dad thing.   Happy Father's Day to you and enjoy this day with the young ones who look up to you and have faith in you.  You are the greatest influence in their earthly lives.  For the rest of their lives.

Sorry Louis and Liam....despite the official narrative, we at Narnia do not believe these Father's Day wishes apply to you yet.  ;-)

I was oblivious of the whole book and Hemingway thing until M&M pointed it out to me last night. #duh I was too busy looking at the wire rimmed glasses, big hands and watch, suntanned forearms and slicked back hair.

Good thing M&M's around to #SnapOutOfIt to me. LOLLLL

We're just benefactors in his shoutout, but Narnia is photobombing his shoutout and saying Kudos to you, Austin.

We love these moments from them that show us their love for each other and on this day especially, forget all the sideshow and the baggage that comes along. When you see these moments and these pictures, we remember what drew us to these couples.

Until we're perhaps gifted with a total brood pic, I had to put together a combo pac of the Padackles clan. But it works, right? What wonderful pictures of them. I'll take these and enjoy them.

Happy Father's Day and I hope folks whose fathers are still with them or have other positive, caring influences in their lives, enjoy this day with them or give them a phone call or text.

What a great version of Higher and Higher that is by Bruce. It's a great, joyous video and includes Darlene Love, Billy Joel on piano, Jackson Browne, John Fogerty and those are the ones I recognize. Well - I didn't recognize Darlene Love, M&M did. LOL!

Geez. It's terrible to always need help with stuff. :-(
;D

Wow, I don't know if I would have known it was Austin in that photo, he looks so different there.

The photos in the previous post of Jake with Lily are nice, they do look good on the red carpet together, and love her dress.

He does look pretty different, doesn't he? I like the wire rimmed glasses.

Well, I'm going to be doing a bunch of flower, hosta, clematis, succulent and hydrangea watering starting Friday for a little over a week. The mother of Curley, remember my beloved Curley boy? The Target dog? I still get a bit emo thinking about Curley, the best boy in the whole world. I loved Curley to death; he was so special. Anyway, I'm going to be tending to all these beautiful plants and garden, and tonight I went over to get a refresher and final instructions. Here's the old post on Curley: My adorable Curley boy

Curley loved McDonald's fries and they were a frequent treat for him. One time for Christmas, I got him a McDonald's gift card. LOL!
