Sunday Musings: Nuptial Garlic Necklaces and Gus Kenworthy's Twitter Craftsmanship


This winter beginning to feel like,


Oh my goodness, what in the heck was that?  Tough lesson learned, for sure! 

Narnia has just a few items we would like to bring to the table this morning, so let's get to it.  

PR "marriages" followed by Just Jared fodder for baby bump "updates" are becoming almost an every day occurrence, aren't they?  

• Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin - did he get "married", so that he could step out with his pastor?



Now that a probation period of time has passed, it looks like Biebs is back out-and-about with his pastor, Carl Lentz.  Notice the garlic necklace words, "His wife Hailey Bieber".  Garlic necklace, Get-out-of-jail card, however you wish to term it.

Two days later,


Lunch with the pastor, followed by a bike ride around the park!  Notice again, the article came with a garlic necklace - "The day before, Justin enjoyed an afternoon outing with his wife Hailey Bieber".

For those not familiar, prior to the 'wedding', Biebs had been seen with his pastor quite a bit.







































So, did Biebs "tie the knot" so that he could continue stepping out with the pastor?  

•  And the latest to get "married" - Darren Criss

Despite looking younger, Darren Criss is 32 years old and Mia Swier is said to be "around 34".  She is a producer and director for Fox and the two are said to have dated for seven and a half years.  Darren has toiled in the business with voice acting, recurring television series roles (i.e. Little White Lie), and video shorts.  These were followed by his more recognized role in the Fox series Glee and theater.  Last year in 2018, came his award winning performance in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.  

Since announcing his engagement in January 2018 to long-time girlfriend Swier, Darren Criss has been the winner of a SAG, Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Emmy award.  And now, the announcement of marriage.  

 It's unfortunate that these "mandatory" nuptials continue to be viewed as valid and necessary in show business.  When will Hollywood catch up to this year of 2019?

 • Congratulations to Gus Kenworthy on his new television role on FX network's American Horror Story.  He will play the boyfriend of Emma Roberts' character, Madison Montgomery.  Congratulations, Gus!  This is not his first acting role as he has been in 2017's Sharknado 5: Global Swarming and was also recently a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race series.

Gus is also quite talented at the Twitter game.  He had a biting, on-point reply to a harsh critic.  Check it out:

• And what is going on with Liam Payne?  On Tuesday, Feb 12, we saw pictures of Liam arriving in New York City.  With a significant amount of luggage.


Then, on Friday the 15th, Liam is quite visibly photo'd and video'd at a CHEGG Music 101 event which won Mission San Jose High School a $10k music grant.

Author aside: It's an admirable sounding event until you read on Consumer Affairs, many of the comments from students and parents on how they were cheated or delayed money from this organization.  Highly critical reviews on their business ethics and practices.  I'm not at all saying that Liam is even aware of these practices because it is not known what is behind this appearance.

Was Liam in the States for awhile?  Doesn't look like it.  Nope, Liam is shuttled right back to the United Kingdom.  Here he is shown to be arriving back at Heathrow airport yesterday, Feb. 16, minus some of that big luggage he had hauled to JFK on the 12th.


Forget some luggage, Liam??? No doubt, he may be back in the UK for the Brit Awards which are on Wednesday, the 20th?  We at Narnia cross our fingers for a Liam win.

So, instead of coming to the United States for the Grammys on Sunday, Feb 10, an event which would make sense for Liam to attend for fun and networking since he is in the music business, he is seen where?  At a BAFTA after-party.  BAFTA = British Academy of Film and Television Arts.  And two days later, he comes to the States to perform at a concert on the 15th, only to leave the States the next day and return to the UK.  Yup.  Makes sense, doesn't it?  [sarc]

Oh, well and there was one other item on his agenda while in the States.  That was to be "photo'd" standing outside of 48-year old Naomi Campbell's NYC apartment building.

So what is with the smear job going on with Liam?  Look at this pack of lies:



Why would Zayn be attending a BAFTA party at all?  Wouldn't Zayn be more likely to want to attend the Grammys as well?  I'm not sure, but perhaps because he's in the music business as well?

 No doubt, Sony/Syco still has a stronghold on all of these young 1D men.  Each week, it's a dart's throw to see who is the choice smear target.

 Regardless, Liam plugs along, doing what he needs to do and having fun performing.  We salute Mr. Payne!  He's a class act.

• Speaking of money shots, Narnia is still looking for the obligatory shot of Big Sis Maggie Gyllenhaal at Lil' Bro Jake's opening night of Seawall/A Life on Thursday, Feb 14.  Instead, both Big Sis and Bro-in-Law Peter Sarsgaard's social media are filled with reblogs of this "informative" video from Architectural Digest which showcase the "couple" giving everyone a tour inside the infamous brownstone:

 Could that be because Big Sis was with the hubs (Austin Nichols)?  Trying to hold down the fort until Jakers could come back and quickly restore order until he had to leave for NYC again?

 Maggie and Austin are just trying to keep things going back at the homestead.  Not too much longer until spring break, kids!  Perhaps Jake's beard Caribou (aka Jeanne Cadieu) could drop in and assist?  Since she doesn't appear to be in New York City either, yet another one who missed the opening night bell.

And remember:  One of the most helpful pieces of advice and information I've received came from our Safety manager at work.  When walking on ice, remember to pengin walk.  Walk like a penguin, toes pointing outward, not straight ahead.  This balances your weight better on the ice.  Believe me, it WORKS!  I don't care how silly it looks.  It's better than having your feet slide out from under you.

Awww, look how happy Patrick was. That was from the Indianapolis Colts playoff game, and they were going to be playing for a shot at the Super Bowl. Ranks right up there as one of my most absolute favorite gifs ever. (my J2 tuxedo and Kradam gifs are still top favorites, too. So hard to throw down the gavel on just one, ha ha) But this one is, I mean, it is right up there.

That peculiar itinerary of Liam's was definitely staged. Hence all the photos of his comings and goings We all know that celebs can arrive and depart in secret whenever they fly somewhere so someone wanted us to see Liam's travels. Whatever was going on, Liam had to be seen at the rumored "girlfriend's" apartment in NY. A typical cover story perfect for Valentine's Day. So it's possible this was all about shipping them as a romantic couple again. Sure seems like a lot of work when you can just photoshop them on Instagram together. It's almost like Liam has some power over this storyline, but his management team can't stop the narrative from unfolding in the media. And yes, I do think Sony/Syco is behind this charade because why would his new management be helping to make him look like a fool? They even have him flying over to California, but purposely have him go up north to a High School, instead of attending pre and/or post-Grammy parties like Niall. In fact, once again, only Niall gets to be marketed as part of music industry while, Zayn, Harry, Louis, and Liam are treated like outsiders. This is definitely no coincidence.
