2020 is the kind of year when you never know what's around the corner.
lol, the spin on that dog...and isn't that just like a cat? I sometimes watch a cat who bats his sister just like that.
But enough about cats and their batting ways! As we were saying, 2020 has been a year
already and right now, we don't ever know what's coming around the
corner. Here are a few of Narnia's recent eyebrow raisers though, in no
particular order.
•
Before we get down to the down and dirty, real quickly, first - let's
start off with a chuckle raiser. Nothing has made me smile this year
like the Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce saying "rollercoaster tycoon".
And thanks to Travis and Google, I now know that Rollercoaster Tycoon is a video game. 😉
🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
And
now for the Swiss Cheese Nods of the past couple of weeks. In other
words, these stories and narratives from PR teams are shot full of
holes.
• Narnia's first slice of Swiss cheese for the snack tray -
Which one of these Chiefs players is not on the current starting squad, wasn't on the starting squad for the 2019 playoffs or
Superbowl, yet once again made the practice squad (fourth season in a
row) for the 2020 season? Here he was joining Chiefs starters as they
all wished the Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes birthday greetings?
We'll give you one guess.
Dieter
was signed by the Chiefs in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. Since
that time, he has signed, been released, resigned, waived, etc. ever
since. From Pro Football Reference, this is the breakdown of the roster changes:
Interesting,
isn't it? In 3 1/2 NFL seasons, Gehrig Dieter has appeared in six (6)
games, all six confined to two seasons (2018, 2019), and has one regular season pass reception of 22 yards and one playoff reception of 11 yards, in addition to special teams play.
But
he has an abundance of social media "air time", as noted above in the
Happy Birthday video to the point where one assumes he must be on the
regular starting roster instead of the practice squad:
The following extensive baby announcement was made on October 5, after he had been cut by the Chiefs and nine days before being signed to the practice squad, yet again.
Tweets which acted like he was on the Super Bowl squad, when he wasn't - he was on the practice squad.
At the Super Bowl (even though there are a certain number of practice squad players who accompany the team in case of injury), hanging with the first squad-ers.
This Chiefs Training Camp 2020 video even though again, he did not make the regular roster:
This is but a wee
bit of sampling, but you get the drift. Get used to his name around
these Narnia parts because he seems to be destined to be around for an
extended time.
• Our second slice of Swiss Cheese
By
the end of September, it would appear members of the Gyllynicholsgaard
Squad are possibly already moving into position in preparation for
October 17, Baby Tile #1 Son's birthday.
Austin
appeared out of nowhere, allegedly motorbiking through the Ozarks (from Texas) and
we're supposed to notice how he's recklessly passing on a double line.
You don't reckon he could possibly be a father by driving so recklessly and laissez-faire, do you? And so who was in the truck filming???
And
then by the next day, Austin was in Michigan along with the bro-in-law
and nieces and nephew (with no sister Ashley in sight).
• Our third slice of Swiss cheese:
From the other side of the Gyllynicholsgaard family, here was Maggie bike riding with ex-husband Peter while she's supposedly filming The Lost Daughter
in Greece. Rather interesting, isn't it, to be riding a bike while wearing a
long, billowy gauze dress? Maybe this was a deleted scene from Il
Postino??
Earlier,
here was Twitter telling us on September 28 that Maggie was going to be
tied up filming her directorial debut for 28 days,
"The shoot is expected to last 28 days."
28 days?
But...October 17?!! What about...what about Baby Tile's ascension into teenage-hood on October 17??? Why, that means Aunt Maggie would miss this most momentous milestone birthday! Why, I...I...Ohhhh....
Shhhhh, we get it now! 😉
• Our fourth slice of Swiss cheese
Goes
to the trio of marketer Jacquelyn Dahl and her star client Patrick
Mahomes for staging an engagement AND a baby announcement (not in that order), with
"high school sweetheart" Brittany Matthews. Both of these stories
coming during a global pandemic as well as the NFL football season.
Dahl knows how to stage a splashy headline on the heels of spotlight
events. Take the engagement, for example. When did this usually
personal and private life event take place? The same night that the Chiefs
team received their Super Bowl rings at Arrowhead Stadium, an event that
was live streamed on You Tube by the Chiefs. And so what was a team event became a personal event for the star QB1. Here below was one of the stadium suites "decked out" for the moment.
Complete with a video of the special moment and photos provided by and credited to a professional photographer.
As you can see at the bottom, giving a business plug while they were at it:
This
People.com, TMZ and social media feedbag was followed by a Thursday
Night game with the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 28, a competition that was
touted and lauded as a Mahomes vs. 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson duel for
the ages. Both teams were undefeated. Well, Lamar Jackson came up
short under the pressure and Patrick had an excellent game; he had never
looked sharper. Number 15's performance was topped off on the field with
another Patrick digital countdown captured by the cameras, this one
meant as a smack on the hand to the rest of the league's players for
ranking him 4th on the NFL Top 100 Players poll.
Yes,
we agree, Patrick. It was indeed a quite questionable ranking. But
what wasn't needed was Brittany Matthews returning to her tasteless
social media ways, ones which are a poor reflection on an organization
which seems to pride itself on professionalism. We apologize to our readers for the NSFW and offensive gesture, but one has to wonder why this kind of behavior is not reined in by anyone, particularly Patrick, who's supposed to be "the face of the NFL".
Aah well, what do we know about public relations and marketing? Amazingly, the very next day, after the big win and that "pristine" flip-off move, the following announcement was made,
LOL! From flipping the bird to the NFL masses to Glamour Shot. So after a couple of seasons of this,
and more helpings of such,
to lace and baby blue. See how that's done?
after allegedly spending seven years together and becoming betrothed, a "detour" is made? During a pandemic? But it's because of a pandemic, that some Hollywood "couples" have decided it's the perfect time to suddenly become pregnant or spring "Guess what, I had a baby!" news on their fans. For some, like actress Michelle Williams, it means they don't need to be seen and don't have to worry about a Beyonce baby bump fail.
An announcement can be made and the parties don't need to be saddled with pap walks. Of course, baby bump pictures are still a must, however, so Instagram is the way they are distributed. With Instagram, the pictures are under the publicist/celebrity's control. The lighting is perfect, perhaps black and white is used to help hide manpulation, and much decreased chance of a visual slip up.
Perhaps Narnia's fave Travis can provide more heads-up tips in the future, like he did back in August when he seemed to be providing a winky-wink to the future. Listen to him at 00:04, when he addresses Patrick.
"How're the wife and kids?"
Ha! Not exactly low key, was it? That was too easy! Next time, maybe not so obvious. Besides, it doesn't look like Patrick was quite seeing the funny in that joke. 😉
• One more slice off of the brick of Swiss Cheese goes to double-winner, Maggie Gyllenhaal, for her and WME's use of brother Jake to help draw attention to her movie, The Lost Daughter, which was or has been filming in Greece. How did she do that, you might wonder? When a meme theme keeps running through Jake's social media search of how much he looks like an actor named Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
This particular tweet even shoehorned a Narnia subject (from 2018, mind you!) from years past, Calgon "Caglar" Ertugrul, into the tweet. This is a good time to mention that our 2018 post about Calgon (and how Jake's people used this "doppelganger" theme to flood Jake's twitter search with a fake meme) as you can see now, somebody went through and deleted alot of Calgon's Instagram content that we had used for evidence. LOL!! Talk about Swiss cheese. They riddled that post with deleted pictures. But that's okay. It was a tough lesson to learn and this author knows better now.
and one more for good luck (although this isn't even a tip of the iceburg of how many tweets there are like this),
In all languages, with all sorts of "photographic evidence" of the incredible "likeness", all the while repeating Cohen's name over and over and who is in Maggie's movie, The Lost Daughter? Oh, that's right, Oliver Jackson-Cohen. Big Sis once again using her brother for clicks and future paying viewers. 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
And finally, since it's no secret that I have commented on Spn Goss since 2014, where I was first drawn to do so after the "shoulder injury" stunt at JibCon and driven to share my own thoughts, unpopular as they were. It's always been a hate-hate relationship, lol. But when one can't even admit when a picture is clearly photo-shopped, one should question what's going on. It started with my comment regarding the news of Genevieve Padalecki joining Jared's new show Walker and playing his late wife, which led to the accusation by one of the posters who said my belief that Jensen and Jared were the ones really raising the children, was "far from reality".
And if the belief is that "far from reality", then why does their team need to photo shop the ladies into "family photos"? Seems like a reasonable question, right? This photo right here which was discussed in our post, Step Up to the JibCon Bar - Denials for Everyone! from May 2019,
Which, if you look at it on a cell phone or Ipad, you are probably going to miss that it is indeed photoshopped. Let's take yet another look at Danneel's two hands where the conjoining of two different people's hands/fingers is taking place.
And I'm clearly told by a photoshop "artist" that I couldn't have been more wrong that the photo above was a composite:
" 'no, dude. Just no." Oh?
LOL! But then, it got even better when a long-time nemesis also told me how bad my eyes were, I guess.
"They were posing for a happy family bearding picture, of course the beard is going to be in it."
lol. Oh, she was "in it" alright. Like a Colorform®.
Well, this post could go on into the night, but it's been going on long enough. After all, we've got even better and certainly more gentle "stuff" in Part 2. On to the gentler sharing, yes, let's do that.
