Best Wishes to the Women Marching to DC Today

Today is an invigorating day in U.S. history, some of the likes the current generation really hasn't witnessed before as thousands of women descend upon Washington D.C. and elsewhere across the country and world, to stand for women's rights. The complete mission statement from the Women's March website is quite encompassing and well-written;  I know that it helped me to more fully understand what today is about:

MISSION AND VISION

We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families - recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

OUR MISSION

The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us - immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault - and our communities are hurting and scared. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new government on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.

HEAR OUR VOICE.

I like the organization's stance to be non-violent and concentrate on fighting the practices of evil, not action against individuals themselves.  Besides speaking out, the event is to also boost morale and provide spirit.

Some of the pictures already appearing from the event:

What a day to celebrate being a woman in this country of America and all across the world.

There is an estimated 500,000 people in Washington, D.C. today. Wow! I mean wow! And, in Boston I think I heard another 150,000 citizens are participating in today's events. This is a truly historic day. People coming together to realize they have power together. Never mind the over 60+ other cities around the country who are turning out in solidarity to support today's activities. And turning out around the world.

Yet, if you listen to the mainstream media you're getting people like Denise Galvez being given ample time to lie, without interruption, about what the march today is really about. How Trump actually gave a completely inclusive speech at his inauguration. Oh, and don't you know that he spoke about all Americans yesterday, yada, yada, yada. She went on to state that Trump is not against women's rights. Or gay rights. Or, civil rights. He's just against identity politics which separates us all. It truly is mind boggling the unchallenged garbage coming out of these spokespeople's mouths. I feel like I'm in the middle of a Brave New World sequel.

Then there was the ample chatter from several anti-reproductive rights people saying they were told they were not welcomed to host (that's a key word) any of these rallies. Commentators acted like this was such a huge mistake on the part of the organizers/protestors. Really? So let's see if I have this right. When the civil rights marches happened in the 50s and 60s I suppose organizers should have been inclusive and invited racists and those who were against extending the franchise to vote. I guess MLK was just practicing "identity" politics. What a troublemaker. *sarcasm intended* Instead of passively acquiescing to his subordinate place in history, he actually thought that he could change history. He thought that justice and equality were worth fighting for. Gee, if only King had been more inclusive and marched alongside those white supremacists who were oppressing them. Truly unbelievable.

I love it. Jake Gyllenhaal is at the march. Probably with Big Sis who stated she was going with Peter. Then Faux Chlo announced she was going to be there too, but Austin was not allowed to participate. He had to be in Los Angeles, watching movies.

If that doesn't tell you that he and Jake are still together, I don't know what does. There are over 500,000 at that march. That's how afraid Jake's people are of those rumors. They can't even be seen in the same area with 500,000 people mulling about. Austin has been seen with her non stop, including that visit to Washington D.C. late last year, but I guess there is no opportunity for Chloe to take off her clothes or scream at the camera about her "boyfriend." LOLLLLL!

Hey, maybe Jake could meet up with Chloe and ask how his husband's been doing.

Jake and his PR team seem to be using this important event as another stunt opportunity because he and Big Sis could have just participated in the march activities in New York City. Management no doubt thought it would be better to prove how footloose and fancy free Jake is by shipping him off to Washington, D.C. Particularly, since they made sure to exclude Austin, even though he is well-known for being politically active.

Oooh, I knew it!!! Ol' Greta is at the Washington, D.C. event too. Guess he didn't want that #Gyllencest hashtag to trend again.

Clue #2 that this was all a stunt. Get a real beard, Jake.

Oh my gosh, what a stunt today. M & M and I will add a second part to this post today later this evening. I had no idea at the time of reposting these wonderful pics and tweets that just an hour or so later, we were going to be seeing Jake shaking hands and kissing babies at the event as well.

Really unbelievable. This one was really over the top by a landslide.
