In a move which really is not surprising, it turns out that yesterday's Women's March on Washington was the perfect opportunity to ship a couple of PR narratives. 1) Jake Gyllenhaal is an advocate for women's rights, and 2) Jake Gyllenhaal can't be gay because he loves women (and even invited his "longtime female pal" Greta Caruso to accompany him at the women march.) Because remember, Jake can't get enough of women.

But there was no sign of Peter. People were tweeting pictures at him about the gathering and Peter himself was retweeting a few "informative" tweets, but there were not pictures of him in attendance at all, just Big Sis and Lil' Bro, cheek to cheek.
Another side eye was the "presence" or pretend presence of Austin's beard, Chloe Bennet, at the Women's March in DC. Did Bennet offer any undeniable proof she was there? Nope.

Just to reiterate a point made before in the past - anyone at an event or venue can film a video/take a picture, email or text it to a publicist, who in turn can upload it on the celebrity's social media account. This is no longer proof that a celebrity is present.
Even a selfie isn't necessarily proof.
This is an Instagram story from Bennet. We hear her voice, but she's not in the video. We have no proof who took the video.
The picture below of Jake and Maggie contains several questionables, like why is the bag under Jake's arm flat? In other pictures, the bag obviously has contents in it. I look at the two brown shoes directly behind the brunette girl standing behind him. Is that person on top of the girl's back? Because that's what it looks like. And yes, Maggie is listed at 5'9", but in this picture, they are both on level ground. Is Jake really that much taller than she is? These are just a couple of things that I had to question.
I have 95% doubt Maggie was there at the march. To repost one of the other pictures again, there was this one in particular:

And speaking of "where was", one has to wonder about Austin in all of this. On Friday night, Austin uploaded this on his Facebook (or somebody did):

Where is everyone?) One has to wonder why he didn't accompany his bird Chlo to Washington DC, even though they had just been to that very same city (quite noisily, too - I seem to recall that great "White House" photo) this past fall.

Funny how he didn't want to talk to anyone and answer questions, but he sure didn't mind 16 GB's of photos being uploaded to the Internet within a few hours time. So much for incognito.
I'm not sure about everyone else, but the only person I am 100% certain was in attendance in Washington DC yesterday was Jake. Honorary mention tip to Greta Caruso, who is - make no mistake about it - the current beard for Jake. Everyone else? I don't think they were there.
Largest stunt I think we've witnessed up to this point in following Jake and Austin. And no doubt, the stunt was to separate these two. With Austin loudly planted in "Los Angeles" and Jake blowhorned in DC? The separation is clear and was supported by a cast of thousands.

Of course, at this point two days later one has to wonder why IHJ was driven to add a whole additional page of pictures, most which were focused on exhibiting Jake and Maggie amidst civilians at the parade. Huh. I wonder what could have prompted that? Let's have a look-see:

The saddest thing about the whole stunt? That this Women's March was used in this way.
An historic event in U.S. and women's history was used by Jake's team and the cast of thousands to hide the fact that Jake is married to a man - Austin - and they are the parents of a large family.
A celebration and march of unity and protest against an administration for lying and exhibiting discrimination against many population groups.
And what were these folks doing? They were lying. They were lying to hide two gay men who are married in real life.
The irony is just off the charts.
Devastating news today that the Kansas City Royals' pitcher Yordano Ventura was killed in a car crash in the Dominican Republic yesterday. He was only 25 years old.
Don't know any details yet. I was so shocked to receive this news. Yordano got on my nerves sometimes with his inability to mature as a pitcher, but he was also friendly and funny. I enjoyed his time at the mic in interviews and I loved that he was not afraid to go without an interpreter. I so admired him for that - it takes courage.
So much talent. May he rest in peace.
Wrapping up a kitty stint. I've been saying I'm wrapping it up for the past 2 hrs, I think. LOL!
The Chiefs are out of the play offs so I'm not really rooting for anyone now, I guess. Hopefully the post wasn't too much of a downer. It was something else to watch unfold, let me tell ya.

That's so sad about Ventura, and another (former) baseball player was also killed same day, also in a car accident, also in the Dominican Republic. Love Kate Bush, not someone I hear played too much.
Wow, pictures of Jake with Maggie, so unusual. Kind of surprising to see him there, it seems like he's been so low key about political stuff in recent years.
Kind of getting a kick out of the She Wolf Bakery bag, that's where I buy a lot of my bread--they have stands at the farmer's markets I go to.
A few points on those Jake and Maggie pics from the March:
Look closely. The long shot has Maggie looking far shorter than Jake. Which she is not. However, when the photo is enlarged to focus just on their faces, notice that she is suddenly not that much shorter. Then there's that bizarre pic of her in a hair bun, neither one even looking at one another. Almost like two separate pics were put together. In every other photo her hair is shoulder length and falling naturally to her shoulders. Yet, the pic with her in a bun has her slightly blurry, unlike Jake's image which is clear and sharp. Note too how Maggie's right ear has a blurred image of what is supposed to be an earring, but you can't really make it out. Because the earring doesn't appear to be a thin hoop silver earring which is what she's wearing in that cheek to cheek pic.
So was Maggie actually at the March? Who knows? I would say probably not. But for some reason their WME publicists want the public to think she was there because the story is being distributed everywhere. Of course when that story started to circulate in a high profile way might give a hint as to what happened.
The saturation of stories only started coming a few hours after this Narnia post was made which first called her presence into question. We know that WME likes to ship Maggie and Jake together, particularly when he's about to return to New York as he will be for his Broadway play in February. So that might have been the reason for the initial pairing. But, why have so many holes in the narrative?
Well, one very awkward component in all this questionable activity is that Peter Sarsgaard, Maggie's husband, was nowhere to be seen. She said he was going to be there yet, once again, he is nowhere to be found. And, at an obvious event that one would think Peter the political activist would want to share with his wife. Moreover, Maggie and Peter have two daughters. Which means this event would have been the perfect family excursion. Yet the whole experience was about Jake and Maggie. Jake and Maggie. Jake and Maggie. What about Peter and Maggie?
The closet is a suffocating place to live. Perhaps the stresses and strains have reshaped alliances. Maybe broken up a marriage or two. Rumors have been around for years that Naomi's marriage was torn apart partly because of Jake's "choices" to not only live a life in the closet, but be married to Austin Nichols and have a family together in secret. What is clear is that Maggie is seen far more with Jake than she ever is with Peter and her own kids. Prior to them both signing with WME in late 2011-early 2012 that wasn't the case.
Another clue that Jake's "presence" at this March was a stunt with some highly suspicious selling points, is how all the photos and tweets came out of nowhere and then suddenly stopped at the same time. No one saw Jake and Maggie leaving. No one. There was one odd tweet about seeing him pick up coffee before the event, but PR forgot to provide an exit plan for Jake and Big Sis. Also, look how in many of the photos Jake is on the phone. Very strange. Who is he talking to? I didn't see any other celebrity on the phone like Jake. What was he doing? Getting "marching" orders on what to do next? Even if he was pretending to be on the phone, one has to ask what in the heck was that about? Was he there for the event or not?
Oh, yes. And if Maggie was really there with Jake, more pics of them together would have emerged. People would have constantly been commenting on twitter how they saw the siblings. Instead there was just a smattering of Gyllencest sightings. That would not have been the case if they attended the event together.
One last point. That CNN commentator who exclusively stated that Jake Gyllenhaal didn't want to be interviewed because basically the event wasn't about him, was a clever way of "substantiating" that Jake was there without him actually having to prove it. Jake, by the way, was the only celebrity that CNN reporter cited, so the statement stood out.
Yet, with the slew of pics and high profile media coverage (articles posted everywhere) about his and Maggie's attendance, it sounds like Jake wanting to lay low and let the issues be the headlines was not the case at all. Basically, I still want to know the real reason why Jake was not interviewed in real time on camera. Jake and his people know how to manipulate images and words. Leaking that comment on CNN provided a verification of his presence without him actually having to prove where he was and when.
If you look at the pictures of Jake with civilians, Maggie is in none of them. He poses with little girls and older girls, Maggie? In none of them. Maggie is a star in her own right, isn't she? She can't even be seen in the background like you can see Greta. The times you see Maggie are when she posed with Jake - pictures that could be controlled if they were indeed photoshopped.
One picture of Jake in the middle of the crowd, you can see the back of that white furry coat, just not her face. How fortunate that coat was so distinguishable, isn't it? How fortunate her back just happened to be towards the camera.
I don't think she was there. When I realized that she didn't pose with Jake for one single civilian picture, and in particular the one with the group of people and Greta is in the front row as well? It really strikes at me why wasn't she in at least one. No fan wanted a pic with two Gyllenhaal siblings?
I think Mgmnt really screwed up when they didn't ensure that Peter participated and Austin. But it tells me that my suspicions are likely right on cue. Peter and Jake don't get along anymore. I don't have to have ITK drops or read about it in a Blind Item. The lack of outings anymore by this family speaks loudly. Ramona and Gloria are no longer seen with their parents in photo ops. Mama Gyllenhaal not seen anymore. Jake hasn't been seen with his nieces for quite awhile. Those two girls are in the closet right along with their uncle.
It's got to be one of the most unusual stories in HW. And one that really only a few of us here will speculate about anywhere, let alone observe. But it has a lot to do with Jake (and Austin). It has a lot to do with Jake's weird hiatuses and lengthy disappearing acts from the public eye. It has a lot to do with his strange ramblings in talk shows because he won't talk anymore about his private life. It has a lot to do with all the inconsistencies with his filming dates.
And actually, Maggie's twitter did tweet a selfie with some other friends, pics of the crowd. None of which couldn't have been taken by someone else and uploaded by a publicist.
Anyway, it was a great day, a historic day. I shouldn't get so wrapped up in all of those shenanigans. LOL. It was all very blatant and in your face, tho.
Glad you liked the Kate Bush track, Destiny. I love that song and the way she sings it. Maxwell also has a version out that is quite nice, but Kate's is my favorite.
I think we don't see the kids anymore because she can no longer claim that the press is hounding her and taking them without her permission, as the rules on that seems to have changed. Now people will know she's allowing it or even setting it up. Probably harder to make older kids go along with a pap shoot too.
I think Naomi is still lurking around (she was at one of the Sunday in the Park fundraising events last year). I think they just don't want to publicize it like they did before because it wasn't fitting the image they wanted to project for all of them anymore.
Peter seems to be awol, you don't even hear of him doing much work lately, or even Maggie.

Who the f**k cares if he’s gay, seriously. I have written about it before, but I was just lurking his tag, and stumbled upon a post slamming Jake for being part of the March, saying that because he’s gay his presence there was just an excuse to make believe he’s straight.
Like, dude, are you saying that gay men CAN’T be feminist? for f**k’s sake, Jake has said since forever that his sister and mom are feminist, so it’s IN HIM to be part of that. Maggie was there and Naomi too. Someone’s even saying the photos of them together are photoshopped… wtf, they arrived separately, stayed together for a bit, and then went separated ways. Stop with the conspiracies!
Again, why are you so butt hurt that he hasn’t said publicly that he’s gay? it’s really not an obligation to share with us his private life.
He’s a great actor, and a good person, and that’s all we should care about.

Oh yeah, agree. It was looking pretty weird. Although him taking Maggie as his date to the Met Ball and the Golden Globes really began to set the "Gyllencest" tongue wagging, so that wasn't much better.
I'm going to update the post here shortly. Jake and his people did some reacting today after this post. Really funny stuff. They just as well should've waved the white flag.
The California paparazzi law that past in 2013 and went into effect in 2014 (SB606) really only applies to harassment for actions that include taking photos and video of a child without parental consent AND in a harassing manner. Simply taking a picture in a public venue without parental consent does not violate the law. The action of the photographer must be harassing in nature as well. Moreover, the law only applies in California, not New York, where she lives. Remember, Maggie had absolutely no problem pimping out Ramona when they were selling the Taylor Swift-Jake Gyllenhaal fauxmance in November 2010. And she more than welcomed coverage of Ramona throughout 2012. I suspect Maggie has drastically altered her behavior because of something else. Maybe something like her little bro having secret kids who cannot be acknowledged in pubic and who are now old enough to notice what being treated differently looks like. Best not to compound the closeting of Jake's children by allowing sis to actually act like a normal mother and be seen in public with her kids on a regular basis like before.
I'm fully aware that this speculation will probably result in Maggie being directed by WME to do a photo op with her kids in the near future, but don't even bother. It's obvious the pap walk would be a reactive measure, which really reeks of desperation. Sort of like all those sudden additional pics of Maggie and Jake at the Women's March that surfaced this afternoon.

The picture of the sibling smooch doesn't do it justice. In another angle, you can see that Mgmnt planted them in the midst of a large crowd and everyone is facing the other way, except for Jake and Maggie. Everybody is facing 180 degrees away and the Gylly pair are taking a selfie. When supposedly they had already taken one already, remember? The one in front of those girls in the middle of the street?
I guess they wanted to take another one with a smooshed smooch too. oh my dog.
