Pride Month: Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles, continued Part II


As a continuation of our previous Pride Month post dated June 7, 2020,

we just wanted to add a few more early indicators of Louis and Harry's self-identification with the LGBTQ+ community through the display of the triangle symbol. Louis, in particular, holds a very special place in our hearts for many reasons, from his gutsy and socially woke nature, to his unwillingness to allow others to take away his pride or self respect. Harry may not have sonically asked the epistemological question, "Do You Know Who You Are?" until Coming Out Day last October, but it seems that Mr. Tomlinson already had publicly responded in the affirmative as early as 2010, for those paying the least little bit of attention. And, a 16-year old Harry Styles was not too far behind his fledgling mastermind boyfriend. Someone, who we believe was already being closeted before the X-Factor Live Shows even began on October 9, 2010. (Yes, we happen to believe that Hannah was a beard arranged by Simon Cowell prior to the Live Auditions in July 2010 to provide preemptive cover for an irrepressibly flamboyant Louis Tomlinson.)  And, because both Louis and Harry have always cared so much about others, their determination has continued to empower a multitude of fans to not only embrace who they are, but to learn how to celebrate it every single day.

Although we always appreciate a casually plucky Harry Styles, let's end our pride month tribute with probably Louis' loudest shout out to both men's community. A stunning reminder of just how tough and smart Mr. Tomlinson is.  For those who have already purchased Louis' first album, Walls, (and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?), it will not be a surprise to learn that Sony/Syco made sure to use the album's booklet as yet another sick opportunity to advance their cruel and harebrained Babygate stunt. The final page including an intentional facsimile of Louis' handwriting with a "personal" message to a certain four-year old with meant to convince "voluntary" words like "Freddie," "Son," "Love," and "Daddy". That's right, TPTB unwilling to even allow Louis' long anticipated work of art to be unsullied by hetero image clauses.

After years of delay and gun-to-the-head Larrie denials, his much anticipated album tainted by the heavy hand of Record Executives and PR bottom feeders, many performers might have been crushed into submission by now, resigning themselves to their closeted fate. But, Louis Tomlinson is not that kind of man, Not by a long shot. All one has to do is draw a line around his unique pose on the strategically designed album cover to be reminded of his continued defiance. His bravery. And his PRIDE. Ladies and gentleman, the self-proclaimed perfectionist and provocateur, Louis Tomlinson:

Narnia Said It Would Be So: The Jake Gyllenhaal/Junior "Tom" Holland Romance Pt. 1



Well, talk about a no brainer.  Narnia Dispatches had said there would be days like this and sure enough, lol.  The Far From Home "Romance" Bromance was a guaranteed thing and while the engines were a bit sluggish trying to get out of the gate, the past week or so saw some pretty heavy, asphalt-burning, rip roarin' overdrive.  


Mmmm, precisely....

Yet, for the most part, quite predictable.   We watched while the boys, WME/Endeavor/Sony/Marvel and a cast of thousands carried out the totally manufactured and contrived during this movie flick promo.  Perhaps because comic book movies are best seen without giving much away, Sony, Marvel and WME/Endeavor decided their sales pitch needed to be heavy on the bromance.  Oh wait - we mean.....romance.  

(Didn't someone here mention that before Jakers did????) Pardon Narnia!  ;-)

But really, the movie promo has centered on Jake and his side car, Tom Holland.  It's possible Hobby Lobby and Michael's stores have run out of heart stickers by now, their Sony promo and social media accounts heavily and lavishly centered on the bro-straight romance.  And it seems that our former regular source of all things Jake narrative fandom and life, social media account jakebullshittingovereverybody has been sidelined. There's a new player in town and well, a real source of info, if you know what we mean.  Here's a look at promo from the "shipping" eyes of norawolf.

Here we are being told that Jake and Junior don't go anywhere without wearing matching watches!  Is this anything like Jensen and meard Misha Collins' alleged love rings?  I thought the JakeChain was supposed to mean something? The bracelet?  Neck chains, watches, pinky rings, we just cannot keep up with Jake and which boyfriend he shares which special bling with! Here's norawolf telling everyone that everywhere Jake and Jr. go, they always wear their matching watches:

Romantic song lyrics, all that is missing is the gondola.  ;-)  I have to say it's surprising Jared & Jensen's team did not come up with this one first for Jensen's meard, Misha Collins.  Tip of the cap to Jake's Team on this one, aye! Make a mental note, PR teams:  come up with a theme song....

 
Lots of hugs and gazing, enough to fill several flash drives, but save the Office Max expense and just go to norawolf's account where there is a plethora of "let me tell you what you're seeing" fanfic storytelling and canoodling to sate anyone's shipping appetite.  Repeat after norawolf - "Amor!"  Junior's checking to make sure the camera is capturing this embrace.

   
But let's not isolate to one source, no matter how thorough it is.  All hands are on deck to sell this romance.  Rotten Tomatoes, whose twitter provides previews, reviews, celeb birthdays, box office earnings and the like.  But for Far From Home...

Look at Rotten Tomatoes' verified Twitter account selling Far From Home as a "legitimate" romance between Jake and Holland and - A Story of Love:

 


Is anyone really surprised by Entertainment Weekly with their lavish photo and video spread, though?

 

But then, even Stephen Colbert.  Even Stephen Colbert was called upon to talk up the heart eyes.




The Stephen Colbert Show was also the platform used to let everyone know that Jakester and Junior "worked out" together and Junior ended up "sore" after their workout.




Junior "couldn't walk"  was the theme this story was intended to meme.  And Junior launched it on a high profile talk show.

And then there was this tasteless "Happy Pride" take on the crying picture of Junior after being"worked out", I mean after working out:


     
And using #1 rated LGBTQ entertainment and news website Queerty to inflate the Crying Tom meme "likes" with this robot: 




Wow!  Boy, that Jakester is a real bruiser, isn't he?  I guess that black and blue ensemble he wore during promo was supposed to be some kind of subliminal message?  [Let's forget that Junior is a young man with a dancer's body] and doesn't really look like he ignores the gym.






Mmmhmmm...

Even People.com got in on the "gym workover" meme:


Could it be this was the reason why Jake's social media search for about the past 6-9 months has been obsessed with the whole Brokeback first-night-in-the-tent and Ennis (Heath) "pounding" Jack Twist, with numerous tweets like this one which (allegedly by a civilian) received over 100k likes and over 25k retweets.  


 

Now, there are tweets like this one:


 

"character development"?  "Happy Pride" yet again?  I think we're seeing some kind of a homophobic trend here.

 

Unrelated to FFH, but again, notice a trend...



 

And then there was this fake "almost kiss",  yet another nod to Jensen Ackles and meard Misha Collins who had the fake makeout at JibCon.  Let's recall that Jus En Bello moment from 2014:


Again, PR teams all borrow from the same handbook (or in the case of Jake's team, they're also borrowing from what they see the other teams doing via Narnia because hey, saves an email or phone call, right, PR?).  Here's Junior putting the moves on Jake with the almost-smooch.  Check it out:


 

Oh come on, boys.  "Straight Up romances" should be "fleshed out", don't you think?  Don't cop out now, the masses want to see. A03 writers can all use some physical inspiration, after all. ;-)

Not to worry, this "mating dance" of Gyllenholland will have plenty of future opportunity.  ;-)

June Highlights with Struttin', Jivin' and Pride Month Heroic Moves



Indeed, Big Ben.  Indeed.  While Narnia waits for some events to pass, we wanted to seize this opportunity to look at some of our legacy faves (and some very important new influences) during the past week, and enjoy the harvest they all brought.  This is what we love most of all, so stop gripping that mouse so hard (Oh, that's just me?  Okay!  lol), listen to the soothing tunes (because piano music is good!) and just let your eyes and ears enjoy. If there is any disagreement with the topic, just scroll past and hopefully the next topic strikes a chord.  Because I have no idea where this post is going to end up at.

It does NOT get any better than this.  One of our favorite men, #87, Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce visited the winning couple of his NFL 100 Experience of a Lifetime wedding contest last night, sponsored by the NFL. He came bearing gifts and what we loved to see were his moves on the dance floor.  Travis truly looks like the life of a party and who doesn't love a man who can twist and shout?  Not to mention moonwalk!

Travis is the straw stirring the drink and we love it.  He was a perfect candidate to carry out the NFL's contest.  We can't wait to see his moves on the field this coming football season.  

And where is Liam?  Liam was in Brazil, performing his music last night at VillaMix Goiânia.  It also looks like he wanted to get One Direction into his set as well with "History":

And here's another favorite of moi, another one doing the number 15 jersey proud - Kansas City Royal Whit Merrifield.  Whit is a stand-up guy.  He's the consummate professional, polite, gives 100%, and pulls no punches.   Here he was this past week having some fun with centerfielder Billy Hamilton.

Speaking of pulling no punches, what about USA soccer team player Megan Rapinoe?  Heart and grit don't come any bigger than with this young lady right here.

She's fierce and whether you agree with any or all that she is standing for, recognize her courage in taking a very open and frank stance for what she believes in and sticking to it. Without getting deep into the why's and heretofore's, I finally get what she is saying about our country as it applies to our hurt and fallen brothers & sisters Colin Kaepernick so bravely spoke about.  It took Megan's story and words to finally get through this author's head what it's all about.  I thank you, Megan.

And she is fun.  She's a free spirit.  And she is a beating pulse.  Here she is with her girlfriend, Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm of the WNBA.

Speaking of heroes, what about Terry Crews this past week?  Narnia's salute cannot be any more staunch:

And unable to resist seeing someone with a quick wit, Terry Crews showed his flair for spontaneity and ability to help another human feel better, here was Terry giving it to Simon Cowell on an episode of America's Got Talent.  This has to be one of the funniest videos I have seen in a long time.

Let's add to our "where have they been recently?" take-a-look, with Jared Padalecki appearing at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Dallas, TX last weekend:

It was wonderful to see Jared returning to past roots.  He looked incredible!!  We applaud him.

lol, LOVE it when he knocked the mic stand off kilter.  That was soooo Jared.

 And talk about looking fierce, here's another Narnia favorite - Harry Styles.  Mr. Styles was near Stonewall in New York on June 28, wearing what the tumblr writer surmises to be a true vintage T- shirt from the 80's.  And don't think we didn't notice another 28 for those who have read our previous posts about the recurrence of that special number for Louis and Harry.



The design on Harry's t-shirt is an unabashedly proud celebration of same sex "mutual satisfaction" *grin* by Keith Haring, an openly gay American pop artist who was a true social, political and artistic force throughout the 1980s, including leading the street art movement where he gained particular notoriety for his New York City subway "expressions".  Keith Haring's work often involved topics such as sexuality, politics, practicing safe sex, and AIDS advocacy. He was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988 and in 1989, he established the Keith Haring Foundation, with the mandate of providing funding and imagery to AIDS organizations and children’s programs. Not too soon thereafter, he died of AIDS complications in 1990 at the age of 31; over 1,000 people attended his services. Being a true artist and social revolutionary, one can easily see Harry's timely homage as a message of both respect and fellowship on the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. Once again, Fashionista Harry Styles showing his own Pride Month tribute. Way to go, Harry!

This past winter with all of the snows and ice storms was tremendously hard on our roads.  But it looks like this road has been missed by the crews for several years, lol.
