Those Special Powers of Instagram (only Celebrities Need Apply)

A big thank you to FlyMeToTheMoon for her sharp-eye tip this evening on finding this article.  Very interesting piece on delicate snowflake Taylor Swift and the special power her Instagram account has been bestowed with now.

The internet has never been known for being a safe place for your self-esteem, thanks to angry, hurtful commenters. But now there may be a new tool coming to help cut down on online harassment and bullying—in the form of a new Instagram filter. The catch? It's just for the rich and famous, starting with Taylor Swift.

Last week's news was all about how Kim Kardashian posted an incriminating video catching the singer in a lie about Kardashian's husband Kanye West. Almost immediately, Swift's social media accounts were inundated with negative comments, mostly in the form of snake emojis.

But the Shake It Off singer isn't letting it get to her, with some high-tech help. Instagram is reportedly allowing Swift to use a new special filter that automatically deletes negative comments. "In an unprecedented move, the photo-sharing site Instagram has quietly handed the American singer a unique 'tool' that enables her to remove only negative or abusive comments made in response to images she has posted,"    - The Times reports.

An anti-negativity filter? What kind of genius is this and where can the rest of us get one? Instagram hasn't exactly confirmed this as the reason for the disappearance of hundreds of comments, but "we're always looking for ways to help people have a positive experience with comments on Instagram," an Instagram spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Not that ol' Tay is sitting there in her parlor reading Instagram comments with hurt feelings, but just in case, her Mgmnt team wants to shield her eyes.

Very interesting, isn't it?  What else is getting filtered in social media?  Tweet sightings?  Yanked from visibility within minutes of airing? Talk about magic wands.

Hello, good morning, good afternoon! Imagine my disbelief when I see Jake's people trying to re-write his filming dates. Plain as day last weekend, the 15th, 16 & 17 (?), there was Jake in his little shorts and red shirt, 25,000 pictures all over Just Jared, IHJ, and Twitter, with Tilda and all sorts of set people.

Then this weekend, there were pictures on Just Jared of Lily Collins and Paul Dano on set filming for Okja as well. But no Jake. Oh, they tried to act like he was there. But there were no pictures of him that looked any different than the ones which appeared from the previous weekend. Are you trying to tell me that if he had been there this past weekend, they wouldn't have made sure to pop up pics of him with Lily Collins? Come on.

And so somewhere along the way, the Okja pictures disappeared from IHJ. And now his people are trying to say he was filming Saturday the 23rd. Just outright trying to re-write dates and fib.

I must sound like a can of Pringles I'm shaking my head so hard. Lol

Wow, I can't believe someone would get such special treatment like Taylor on social media. When you think of all the people who have been hounded and harassed.

Hi Destiny! Wasn't that something? Unbelievable. And you know, it's not like Tay goes through her comments either.

I tend to think she and her people just didn't want negative comments on her posts. They don't want other fans to see the negative reactions. Talk about maintaining a bubble existence.

Well, I have to say my Royals are just doing awful this year. Too many injuries. Terrible pitching.

But also, way too much hoopla. Too much fanfare. Too much reliving that World Series and some of the players might be partying a bit too much.

It's not over, but I can't see a big turnaround on the horizon. :-( It was such a fun, wonderful season last year, too.

Hey, Destiny!

Good to see you joining us. Hope you're having a wonderful summer.

That Taylor Swift article is a real head shaker. How does software identify negative comments? People need to get a clue. These PR teams are using any means at their disposal to manipulate and eradicate that which is inconvenient for their client's image, like the truth. And, it's not just Instagram. If any of you saw the whole wikileaks reveal this weekend that was another eye opener. Bernie Sanders supporters knew the system was rigged from the beginning of the Presidential nominating process. The Party apparatus was all about electing Hillary from the start, but these emails from the DNC server exposed them for the liars that they are. Several hashtags started appearing that were uncomfortable for the establishment (aka the Clintons and the mainstream media who were exposed as being in bed with the Democratic National Committee to downplay and lie about Bernie and sell Hillary to the viewers). How did Twitter and Facebook respond? Blocks were suddenly imposed regarding certain terms and after 24 hours, when Debbie Wasserman Schultz finally was forced out as the DNC Chair, Facebook suddenly "fixed" the problem.

WikiLeaks ‏@wikileaks
.@Facebook says it has unblocked the posting of links to http://WikiLeaks.org and that the blocking was 'an accident'.

Sure. An "accident". Sort of like the AP announcing on the eve of the California Primary this year that Hillary Clinton had enough delegates (after calling all the Superdelegates) to win the nomination. The evening before the California Primary! No need to vote, people. Nothing to see here.

Voter suppression, anyone? *shakes head*

Leeyum is a real sweetie. Particularly, when you consider what he and the other three guys have had to put up with to gain their freedom. Louis and Harry's closet, #Babygate, fake girlfriends, bizarre business affiliations, and smoke and mirror record signings.

The whole One Direction mess, in fact, is a story to watch closely this year. Talk about a study in mind and media manipulation. As well as, the duplicitous use of social media and the imposition of gaslighting techniques (emotional abuse of fans). Simon Cowell is doing everything to destroy 1D's ability to continue with their career, post Syco; post Modest; post Simon Cowell. And, we are probably only mid-way through this farce. The whole charade is truly worthy of a dissertation study in how the powers that be retain their overlord status vis-à-vis their clients.

In the end, however, I think the boys are going to win this time.

I guess Kim Ledger (Heath's dad) spoke to an Australian publication.

Eight years after his death in 2008, Heath Ledger's father Kim has opened up about the Oscar-winning actor's final words.

According to the 66 year-old businessman, Heath's sister Kate had warned him not to mix prescription medications in his final conversation before his death from a lethal drug overdose.

Kim told Daily Mail Australia:

"The last conversation Kate had with him was this discussion about his medications and she warned him, "You can't mix drugs that you don't know anything about.""He said Katie, Katie, I'll be fine!" Well that's a cavalier boy's answer. It just put his whole system to sleep I guess."

Heath was 28 when he died from taking a combination of several different prescription medicines. The toxicology report that was released following an autopsy stated that the cause of death was "acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."

Heartbreakingly, Kim also went on to admit that Heath's death was "totally his fault". He said:

"It was no-one elses. He reached for [the pills]. He put them in his system. You can't blame anyone else in that situation. That's hard to accept because I loved him so much and was so proud of him."

Since the Dark Knight actor's death, Kim has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about prescription medication misuse, particularly in his native Australia.

It's taken a long time

It takes a lot for a parent to say something like that. It must cause so much pain. And you know, there's just nothing you can do when someone is addicted. That person has to realize what they're doing. I feel bad for Mr. Ledger because he said that as a parent, you can move on, but you never get over the pain of losing a child.

Will try for a new post again tonight. I had started last night, but between the Royals game and getting all caught up looking through the archives of OMG, it did not happen, lol.

I have to tell other regulars of OMG, you all have NO idea what a tremendous archive that blog is. No idea. Everything is there. So many tweets that there's no way you could ever go back and look up. So many dead links and discussions. It's a humongous archive. Cannot express that enough.

Special has a real gem there.
