Now in the case of Jonathan Toews, it's not as distasteful as Austin's Twitter account DM'ing under-aged female fans, but it's wince-worthy enough by way of a video which appeared on Vimeo on Tuesday, Jul 5 very early in the morning (4:32am Central Time). What is hinky to me is the video is posted by a new account on Vimeo called TazeKane. The acct was set up just 4 days ago and this is the first and only post on their bright and shiny account. Was it the first site to have the video? Watch at your own "risk", lol. I could only make it through a couple of minutes.

For Toews, well, how do you defend against a guy who does everything so well and plays with such a competitive edge? He has earned the nickname ‘Captain Serious’ honestly. But those close to him will tell you that’s only a small part of his personality. Toews is actually a laid-back guy away from the rink. The amount of pictures of Jonathan involved in the community are numerous in several different venues. And he certainly seems very at ease with children. He seems to go the extra yard as seen in this video. I mean, ironing a badge on a Girl Scout vest? That's just above and beyond. ;-) The former Girl Scout in me appreciates the cookie sale.
For whatever reason, Management seems to think it is necessary to "slut up" the image of 1/2 of the OTP. Lucky for us, enough of the good preceded the "slut", enabling us to sense that something just isn't right when videos like the 4th of July Vimeo appear to have dropped from the sky.

Management seems to think it is necessary to "slut up" the image of 1/2 of the OTP.
I like to call this rebranding process, the “hypersexualization” of a celebrity’s image. Where facts simply don’t matter if you are appealing to someone’s preexisting bias. In this case, the assumption that people are straight until they openly admit that they are not. Of course, when it comes to celebrity culture, some men are apparently “straighter” than others, particularly the gay ones.
Examples of this truism are everywhere in the entertainment industry, and that includes (maybe even more so) professional athletes like Mr. Towes. PG has rightly observed, for instance, how out the blue, Austin Nichols was suddenly and blatantly portrayed as a stalker of younger and under-aged girls on social media back in 2012. Even creating a farcical cross-country twitter “dialogue” between Austin and some anonymous 17-year old girl (given the name of Sara) from Texas, who we are led to believe that he soon bedded upon arrival in the Lone Star State. No doubt this is one of the reasons why Jake’s people made sure Austin was attached to a 20 year-old imbecile for his next fauxmance adventure.
After all, we all know that a man’s character, ethics and entire value system completely change when he turns 32 years old. Am I right? Well, let’s just say those elements most certainly do change if they are a closeted celebrity. And, doubly so, if that unfortunate person is a closeted celebrity, engaged or married to another closeted celebrity. To hit home the point, I would wager that this coincidental “appearance clause” transformation of Austin took place just when Jake signed with WME and his whole image began to be repackaged in a much more “audience friendly” way, as well. No longer the sweet, sexy yet goofy, stylish dresser who loved to cook and collect tea sets, wear cashmere socks, and hang with men like Austin Nichols. Meet grunt-worthy, knuckle-dragging, Jake "Bro" Gyllenhaal.
Conclusion:
Then there’s the outrageous example of a sixteen and seventeen year old adolescent, Harry Styles, being openly depicted in the media as a heartless womanizer. Breaking up families, dating women 15 years his senior and shamelessly picking out female fans from concerts to take backstage and have “his way” with them. One outrageous headline happily declaring that he was a manwhore who f*cked 410 women in one year.
No doubt, what Louis Tomlinson is going through right now with this over the top charade of BabyGate is all part of the perverted formula. Misogynistically, portraying contractually-bound closeted gay men as whores and abusers of women. Then brutally double-down on the barbarity and absurdity, if they are in a loving relationship with another male closeted celebrity. Within this context, professional athletes fit right in because their money grubbing handlers are trying to appeal to the misogynistic and homophobic core of a large segment of their male consumers.
To hit the point all the way home, if we accept that one of the main purposes of a celebrity public relations team is crisis communication and management, then one has to wonder why celebrities who have certain types of rumors are inexplicably and habitually portrayed in the media as the worse of the worst, particularly when it comes to the opposite sex. Rapists; wife beaters [I’m looking at you now, Johnny Depp]; pedophiles; and serial Lotharios. The tag doesn’t really matter as long as the underlying message is that my client is "horribly" straight, dammit! To paraphrase Joseph Goebbels, The bigger the lie, the more likely people will believe it:
PR Job Description: One of the most important jobs for a PR representative of a celebrity is handling a crisis. This can be a short, quick response if a celebrity makes a racist statement or ends up in jail, or the job can be developing a long-term strategy for a public image turnaround, such as when a celebrity is arrested for making lewd gestures and his public image is instantly ruined. The PR rep has to know how to respond to media inquiries and calm down the public, while also coming up with strategies to get the celebrity positive media coverage that overshadows the bad.

That’s it, that is called connecting the dots and draw likely conclusions. When you’re not biased for some reason or led by fear and ignorance, there’s absolutely nothing weird or world changing. Like, oh Ronaldo might be gay (keeping in mind ALL the elements through the years and the way he had his child was the waking call for me, before I was mostly meh who knows) shouldn’t be different than oh, Ronaldo might enjoy pasta more than roasted chicken. If he wanted to make statements about that, he would. And, exactly, when the womanizer point is pushed too much and things don’t add up when looking closely, there’s often something else, something very different behind. But this is the world we live in and football is possibly even worse than the show business, if not for the managers, certainly for the audience and the inner dynamics.
Talking about Harry…I remember at least one time when Cristiano wore nail polish on his toes!! Black, if I’m correct!

Yup, couldn't agree more. Actually both comments on the "slutting" up of a closeted guy's image were excellent, so well worded. I could never put it so well. Thank goodness Mgmnt has had Jared cut back on all of that airline rant nonsense. I'll never forget when I was online on an evening when Jared was tweeting to American Airlines in some big ol' rant about being stuck on the tarmac.

I think Jared was in Vancouver that weekend and this is back when Mgmnt was always trying to say that these guys were flying out every weekend during filming to go home. Anyway, I used my blastobutter account to make a stink online about it. I called out what looked like a total different "scenario" and then Jared began deleting his tweets right after that.
There was a discrepancy with the flights and how they were matching up to what Jared was tweeting. We caught them in a lie. I raised it up on Spn Gos and boy, I was quite vehemently attacked. Whew! lol. I remember that distinctly.
And right after that, I received a long personal message into my Live Journal account from a "tirauclair" and she was trying to tell me how wrong I was:

Jared was much more likely in Texas, because there were too many fans seeing him in Texas, CW PR isn't like Hollywood A lister PR, they have no money, can't photoshop for shit, even on promo material and don't care enough about their stars. The fans who saw him were real people, with facebooks, not fake PR twitters.
That's just the first part, but I wanted to share that (yes, I keep just about everything, lol.)

I forgot to mention that I happened to be on the phone with M&M at the same time this stuff began appearing online and with her great assistance, she was looking up a lot of the airline information like the flight statuses and I was looking at all the available, present flights. His flight/transfers and the timing of his tweets and where he was supposed to be, etc. was not mapping out logistically. Also, btw, this was in 2014. Forgot to mention that.
And so I just found an email that I had sent to M&M that night from a tumblr which showed a history already established of Jared tweeting at American Airlines. You know, the page is now gone. "does not exist".
I don't think Jared & Jensen's people were used to the guys being called out on their stuff on Spn Gos quite like I did, being kind of frank, you know. lol.
Which brings me to something else I wanted to make a point on.
I am still quite saddened and concerned about the status of my online colleague @decodingJ2andco who seems to have just gone Poof! I've put up an APB on both of my tumblr accounts, tweeted a shoutout to her, like I said, I tried DM'ing her through several of my Social Media accounts, and was getting rather discouraged until I privately heard from someone last night from one of the social mediums and it was very very interesting.
All I want to say right now is this:
To anyone lurking on Narnia Dispatches and you have a Twitter or a Tumblr and you are quite vocal about calling out something which goes against Mgmnt's narrative. Maybe you've even gotten some rather abusive or unkind feedback or Ask on Tumblr about something you've posted. Maybe you've had to private your account for a little while or been concerned about your identity or felt like someone was trying to muzzle or discourage you from speaking.
Besides telling you please do not let an intern intimidate you off of social media, please remember that both Tumblr and Twitter offer the advantage of blocking accounts. You do not have to look at that person's nonsense.
One time and Boom! Block them. Don't put up with it. Don't listen to them. If they've done their homework, they've been watching you for awhile and they have been looking for your Achilles heel, somewhere they can aim at to try and make you feel bad.
On Tumblr, another way to head it off at the pass is Do Not Allow Anon Asks. Make the person put a name on it. Would you rather hear from someone who has nothing to hide on Tumblr and isn't afraid to use their account or someone who wants to nag at you behind an anon Ask. They are going to think twice before Asking you because of course they aren't going to want to put their name on their nonsense. It's not a guaranteed preventative action, but it's certainly a good deterrent.
Management is very real out there. They're hiding behind locked accounts or a fake one. A Twitter egg. They are watching, of this I have no doubt whatsoever. They are watching & combing and they're protective of their clients' image, even false if it is. It's nothing to them if they want to bump you off of the internet if you pose any kind of threat to the truth.

I always love the cover up, which usually includes a thorough scrubbing of the Internet.
Being caught in the act, the Supernatural team waited quite a while before they started using the airline meme again to place Jared somewhere. Some 18 months, in fact. Funny how PR used US Airways instead of American Airlines this time, but within 9 months US Airways had been absorbed by American Airways anyways. The tweet must have been an audition for the upcoming corporate merger. LOL! And, what domestic flight costs $7,000? Remember, how I said facts don't matter when spinning these yarns. The whole point of the rant was to "document" that Jared was flying to Los Angeles from Austin, TX on January 28th. The question was why was that date so important to use?
Jared and his beard were supposedly "wedded" on January 27th. Voila. Instant placement of Jared in Austin, Texas on his anniversary. No need to even manufacture lovey, dovey photos of the happy couple.

smh. Jared and the airline rants. I think Jared & Jensen have gotten away with a lot in the past. Now they're having to get just a wee bit more creative. This summer has been quite interesting and at least there was not a stunt used at JibCon. Why? Because they used his beard Genevieve instead. LOL! And what kind of a mess that was. Geesh.
One thing I will say about him and Jensen is that they have an incredible bond. And every time Jared takes a lot of online abuse for something he's "done", ie airline rant, hang out with the Ducks, tweet about Genevieve or be seen with Genevieve, etc., Jensen will find a way to show his unity and bond with Jared. Which is very admirable, but how about not putting on a false front to begin with and then he doesn't have to forge a "front" when it really wasn't needed to begin with.
