Thursday at the Airport With Jake - A One-Morning Performance

One bleary-eyed blink and you would have missed it.  I mean, the alarm clock needed to be set mighty early to catch this one.


 

While we're not positive where the "mom" is, we know that this tweeter is in....New York City.  Since she says "the airport", that seems to infer a local airport for her.  If it were an airport in another state, I would think she would refer to the actual name, but I'm not going to throw down the gavel on that one.

As is always the case with Jake and Austin, there are rarely cold steel, smoking guns.  You have to look at the events surrounding, leading up to and following a sighting.

Last we left this rumbling, stumbling pair, we had Jake in New York City performing Sunday in the Park With George at the Hudson Theater, following a stop-off and run for the border at a Taco Bell in Southgate, Michigan.  And Austin?  Well, Austin was in Michigan as well, we assume driving the rehab-bus after his sister and bro-in-law skipped town.  ;-)   For further reference to this, please see:  source

Well, this current weekend, Austin is SUPPOSED to be in London at a Walker Stalker convention.  It had been set up since last year. Well, lo and behold, what happened?  Let's allow Austin to "break" the news to us, starting with his tweet and Instagrams from March 1:

But by Friday morning, something had gone terribly wrong:

 

Then in what I'm sure could be an attempt with some humor to set fans at ease...

 

Pfft!  That's it.  He's done.  No other flights available, I guess.  No mechanics around. Throw in the towel.  Pack up the camping gear and go home.  Don't pass go, don't collect your $200, just call a cab and pick up a sandwich for the ride back to....where?  Michigan where he's the bus driver for his recuperating father?  Austin, TX where all of his vehicles are located in his garage?  Or to Los Angeles, where he visits the beard, I mean girlfriend, according to Maxim magazine?  

 

[Aside:  Oh but wait! Guess the patriarch Dave Nichols is "on the mend".  More on that later.]  But in the meantime, we will scratch Michigan from the short list of return-destination possibilities.

 

We return to the tweet sighting of Jake at the airport on Thursday morning and wonder why it could have been viable?  We know he couldn't have been departing because he had performances stateside to do this weekend.  And this airport tweet came at 05:33 am ET. That's pretty darn early. Could he have been giving his boo Austin a lift to the airport for his weekend trip to London?  I doubt it. These two guys have parted ways due to business trips an endless amount of times. Nothing new there.

 

Or could it be that Austin was coming in on an arrival flight? Couldn't he have taken a cab from the airport, though? Surely - after all, how incredible of a driver could his hubs be?  But wait. What if Austin and the Baby Tiles had still been in Michigan, but were coming into the Big Apple?  Could that explain the very early arrival?  Less chance of being seen.  And it could explain why Jake would risk being spotted because he could not wait to see his children.  He likely had been waiting to see them for some length of time, how long we are not sure.  But waiting nonetheless.

 

And as has been the kind of luck that Jake has had sometimes - well, he got caught. Again.  Now, let's throw one more log onto this little campfire.  Who has a birthday coming up this Wednesday, March 15?  Jake's mom, Naomi Foner.  And who could have been disembarking on this wee-hour arrival flight to help celebrate? Possibly her grandchildren - the Baby Tiles en masse. Two tweets from last night's Sunday in the Park performance:

 







Since Wednesday falls during the work week, it's very possible that a 71st birthday shindig is being/has been held this weekend and that's why the grandchildren were flown in.

Because we know that Jake playing with other people's children for the world to see, must mean he couldn't have any of his own.  Yeah, we know, bud.   Nice try.  ;-)

Another rare Twitter catch.  And another round of broken planes and Broadway backstage moments.  

Btw, for those wondering about the patriarch Nichols, looks like he's "on the mend" from that quite-serious, mysterious malady his son-in-law wanted all the world to know about.  From the well-timed re-opened Instagram account of Austin's bro-in-law, any curious questions on Dave Nichols status have been generously answered:

Interesting details to these pictures are noted.  It's good to see that Austin "returned" to where he was more badly needed, isn't it? Taking care of his fur child in LA. Instead of the wheelchair bound dad that Randy is selling via his Instagram account.

 And that's how you know, what you are seeing is what PR wants you to see. What is actually happening behind the scenes is not going to be posted on Rowdy or Austin's Instagram. Who would like a slice of birthday cake, now?  Order up!

lol. You know, I couldn't believe it when that tweet popped up early Thursday morning. Jake's twitter search has been inundated with the routine robots and Jake memes, as it normally is. It is extremely rare anymore to get a coffee, a brunch, shopping, etc. Even a subway sighting. His team fills his twitter search with old Jake subway pics, I guess to give the subliminal impression that he still rides the subway. Remember when he did Constellations with ol' Ruthie Wilson? His people tried to act like they rode the subway together to or from work? smh.

Taco Bell in Southgate MI and the airport in NYC. Very early in the morning. Yes, I think it was Austin and the kids coming in for Nana Gyllyhall's bday celebration. It would explain why so early of an arrival and it definitely explains all of the extracurricular, OTT activity with the "broken" plane (really, Austin?), Jake playing coloring pencils with the little girl backstage.

And we know that's not a Baby Tile he's playing with. I don't think there's any way Jake is allowing his kids back stage. Not at this point, not with these kids talking and able to blab something (remember the Romulus MI tweet of the Austin Nichols family on the stewardess' flight) These guys cannot afford for one single peep from a member of the backstage crew, even with non-disclosures.

And I bet they've been in Michigan. That's why Ashley was up there and then the whole ruse about Mr. Nichols being in a health crisis and needing rehab. In Michigan. I mean, we did a whole post on the unlikelihood of that, right? And Austin again blew this scenario because here Rowdy goes to all the trouble of posting these pictures showing how Mr. Nichols is recuperating, and we assume back in Austin TX. But where is Austin? Well, he was supposed to be working, but when the plane "broke", where did he go? Not back to Austin TX to help with his dad, because Austin isn't working right now, so he has time to help, right? No, instead he put himself all the way over in Los Angeles to hold Wally on his lap. I guess since Wally doesn't have a strap to restrain him, right?

You know, it makes one wonder if that whole story would have occurred had Austin's mom still been alive. These two Nichols siblings don't seem to have any problem using their father to help carry out a false story. Really, really disturbing stuff.

Ah well, we know Austin isn't in LA. He's got stuff to do. He has real kids to help take care of, not fur stunt kids.

Not even really a good try, fellas.

You know what I find kind of interesting. There have been a few pics years ago of a little baby/toddler that several of us felt very well was Baby Tile No. 1 Son. And it was strange because why? Because that child had quite blond hair. But look at Grandpa Dave Nichols. Look at how blond his hair is. And if I recall right, there was an old family picture of the family in canoes and Austin's nephew was in the pic. His hair? Also blond.

So it's very possible for Jake and Austin to have a blond haired child, I think, at least in their very early years.

And lo' and behold when Jake had his opening night, guess who was in attendance besides the usual expected family attendees, but also Jake's father, Stephen. That was something to see. I can't help but wonder if Jake & Austin's kids see or play with their uncle Gyllenhaal (Jake's step-brother). An uncle who is the same age as them? It's kind of funny, lol.

Alright, I've got to wind down for the evening. Just had a few thoughts to add and didn't have a chance to do so yet.

Thanks, Destiny. You know, it is just so rare anymore to get what looks like a real time tweet sighting of these guys. But we've been fortunate now to get two in the past several months.


And this from Austin on that Wimbledon movie Instagram of his: This pic was the last time I was in London. Huh? It was not. What an outright fib!! Good lord.
