Saluuute! So says Peter Lawford and June Allyson in that stupendous gif above. Aren't they spectacular? And so is Jake and I don't want to forget this as I can get caught up in the circus that often comes with the closet. Going to grab the megaphone and pump the fist - let's go. Let's have some fun and appreciation for Mr. Jacob. 2-4-6-8!
J - J is for jesting
Jake has seemed to always have a good-natured, self-
deprecating sense of humor. I'm sure there are funnier moments
but this is amusing to watch Jake try to beat Jeff Bauman to the
punch with personality and physical descriptions of himself.
A - A is for abroad. Abroad as in....frequently.
C - C is for considerate. When it comes to Austin, we at Narnia and Oh My Godot heard the stories of Jake liking to please his guy, Austin and it is never any more evident than in the places they travel together - places which are near bodies of water because Austin loves the water. Big Sur, Tortuga Bay, Hawaii and no doubt the south of France. Jake has also known how much Austin loves birds, hence the several shirts he has worn which are adorned with a bird(s). Here he is with what looks to be a flock of
Who is Austin known as, in Ted Casablanca's Blind Item? Grey Goose. Bird, bird, win, win. ;-)
O - O is for outgoing. Who doesn't love an extrovert? Loud, friendly, funny, rarely at a loss for words, loves to entertain and make folks laugh. They're the folks who keep a party going. Jake loves to entertain. He can even entertain himself. Gotta love it!

B - B is for barefooted!! Who doesn't love barefoot Jake? ;-)
Ready for the second half? (We're skipping the "Benjamin" part for gigabyte purposes!) Let's go!
G - G is for gentle. Whosoever is gentle with a dog, should be gentle in their heart. And we're going to ignore the ferret stunt and give Jake the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Y - Y is for yeller-prone. Is yeller-prone an adjective? If it isn't, it should be! And it is in our post because this is Jake. He does tend to be a bit on the feisty, pitch-a-fit side and we love that about him. Why? Because"it's part of his charm." And it makes him human, just like the rest of us.
At TIFF 2018:
L - L is for likable. Before his personal life changed so much, one of the things that caught my eye about Jake was how friendly he seemed. Even with the paps. He waved. He chatted. He smiled. I don't think these kinds of friendly qualities normally change about a person. We just don't see this side of Jake much anymore in pictures. But back in the day, he came across as very people-friendly and that's a great thing.
E - E is for enough. As in - most importantly, for his partner Austin, he is enough. And whether he knows it or not, for this author as well - he is enough. He is fine and dandy the way he is.
N - N is for natty. Barring green and navy blue-collar, punch-the-clock pants, Jake has exhibited a fondness for the cashmere and sherpa and he sure knows how to flash the black leather shoes. We admire that part of Jake who has shown his desire to look nice. Did he ever look any snazzier when he had this fresh haircut in the oatmeal cashmere sweater? A++, Jake!

H - H is for healthful. Jake has long been known to be conscious of what he eats (when Austin isn't steering him towards the taco truck side of life). He's gone through his kale stage and known for his penchant for Whole Foods and farmers markets. Jake treats himself, but he also likes to feel good, as evidenced by trying to eat right and work out when he can.
A - A is for adult. We don't get to talk to Jake. Or witness him away from the camera. But you can't enthusiastically and financially plan for a large family without earnestly wanting one. And no one can prepare for adulthood like having children. No doubt Jake has found this out (along with Austin) and he is no longer the 20-something young man that he was. He's earned the crinkle lines.
A - A is for adventurous. He has tackled the arctic wilderness in Iceland, learned how to box, worked with sheep and camels, learned how to handle a gun, learned how to surf, stood in front of thousands of people on Broadway and sang, taken the plunge at the altar and biggest of all - tackled parenthood. THAT's an adventurous young man. What a life, Jake. You should be proud of yourself.

L - L is for lionhearted. Jake has put himself out there. He withstood some box office failures, he has taken risks, he stood up for his relationship with Austin and took the plunge, he no doubt is trying to provide and care for his family. And when he believes in his movies, there is no one who works harder to promote them, no matter the outcome at the box office.

No doubt Jake has many more wonderful qualities; these are just the ones I see or feel pretty certain about. It's important to let these guys know that even though it seems we're frequently taking the Expo marker to the white board on them, we understand that they are not always the one calling the shots or aware of what words are being put into their mouths.
It's always nice to appreciate and remember why and how we arrived at Narnia Dispatches in the first place.
