Flushing Out a Suspected Twitter Conversation

Combing through the ol' Inbox and I came across this email I had in my overloaded Sent box.  It was an interesting twitter conversation I had kind of poked my head in on.  The twitter name that begins each tweet is the writer of that tweet.  If there is a second line starting with "@" and then a twitter name, that means the first one is talking directly to the second name.  (I know, clear as mud, huh?)  I am the account called @GoosesTile.

I might make a video in response to @kat_blaque on 'Gay For Play' actors. What do you think?

Should straight actors play gay characters? Even if it takes away roles from LGB performers?
(this tweet is followed by a poll)
34%Yes.

25%Not qualified to answer.

@JazzaJohn yes, also couldn't care less at the same time. The problem is gay actors getting big roles, not just the typecast ones.

@J3Lyon agreed. I think often it is reduced to an actor's ability to empathise with character, but I worry about roles being taken away.

@JazzaJohn I mean did the fact Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger went home and banged their gfs really detract from Brokeback Mountain?

@J3Lyon @JazzaJohn One of those actors was gay, it's just that he was and still is in the closet.

@GoosesTile @JazzaJohn erm, who are you even talking about? which actors?

@J3Lyon @JazzaJohn One of the actors you were discussing on Brokeback

@GoosesTile @JazzaJohn erm, okay. random headcanon there.

I highlighted my two word clues, of which there were two.  1) The word "erm" (another derivative would be "eh"), a term you receive quite often when someone is snarking at you on a blog or in a Tumblr ask and can be translated to:  "you dumbass".  2)  the phrase "random headcanon".  From Wiktionary:  defined as "Elements and interpretations of a fictional universe accepted by an individual fan, but not found within or supported by the official canon".
This twitter conversation seemed like a total set-up to me.  How did I stumble upon it? By simply searching "Jake Gyllenhaal" on twitter.  Notice none of their other tweets contained his name, except for this one:   "did the fact Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger went home and banged their gfs".   See that?  That's what you call a simple "het" plant.
A little bit of subliminal social media nonsense.  Over the years, Jake's search has been salt and peppered with these whether by word or by picture.  With this particular conversation, it took no time at all to flush them out.  :-)

Just a little sleuthing 101.

I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten "Erm" or "Eh" on Spn_Gos, a place where I've often been shown the door, but ignored the hint. ;D You could also define those two sentence prefixes as "Incoming! Incoming! Incoming snark!" just so you know whatever is coming next is going to be somewhat disrespectful towards yourself. I guess the snarker could be credited with giving a heads up.

Hope somebody out there likes some Ray Charles. I like that version of I Can See Clearly Now, it's pretty darn good. And lucked out today, my nurse gave a GREAT tetanus shot!!! It hardly hurt at all. I told her that I now suffered great guilt at what us kids put our parents through when we were little, crying and carrying on so. Making a scene in the doctor's office. *turns red* And one time, they even tricked us, not telling us until we were in the car!! Can you blame them? I'll never forget it. I can still see the exact spot in the road when we found out. Boohoo'ing all the way to the doctor.

Not a proud moment, that's for sure, lol. Good night, everyone! Thanks for checking out Narnias.

Boy, if I didn't know any better, I would say both Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps are hiding something. Their straight cred is being pumped big time all over the Internet. As in, OTT.

No kidding. PR is definitely working overtime right now when stories like the one below start cropping up everywhere.

Very passionate and hot - we were devouring one another

Then there's “People Magazine” chiming in as well to reassure the American audience of Bolt’s hetero credentials:

10 women

Looks like Bolt is trying to expand his 30+ million dollar endorsement deals with high profile brand names like Puma, et al. In fact, that's how you know a celebrity is hiding something about his sexuality. When big time corporations have no problem with stories like this being spread far and wide something is up. Notice, of course, that only the straightest of straight sex is being promoted. Of course, if Bolt were actually into women, there would be no need to splash these kinds of outrageous "reveals" everywhere.

What I love the most is how Usain Bolt's publicity machine is already kicking into overdrive by indicating that there is nothing to see here. We have learned already for instance, that his multi-million dollar endorsement deals won't be hurt at all because of these scandalous photos and videos popping up everywhere. After all, his bevy of women is all part of his…wait for it… "persona."

From ibtimes.co.uk:

Usain Bolt may be facing fierce scrutiny thanks to his transatlantic partying marathon but, according to industry experts, the controversy will not affect the Jamaican gold medallist's marketability, nor is it likely to jeopardise his multi-million sponsorship deals....Any whiff of a scandal can leave a bad taste in the mouth of consumers and result in the loss of major deals − just ask Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte. Speedo USA is one of four sponsors to cut ties with the star after it emerged that he "over-exaggerated" claims he and his teammates were robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro on 14 August.

Unlike Lochte, Bolt doesn't have to worry about his bank account says Rod Kohler, managing director of Revolution Sports + Entertainment. He told IBTimes UK: "Ryan Lochte was a different situation. He has lost his endorsements because he was caught out lying. Usain Bolt has always been very open about his partying lifestyle, but keeps his personal life private. People will love him even more now."

His personal life private? I guess that’s code for being splattered all over the internet and in tabloids with half-clad women and bedroom videos. Interesting definition of privacy, don’t you think?

Sooooo, Lochte is persona non grata because he lied about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio. Has even issued several mea culpas along the way, but Usain Bolt's unapologetic "orgies" and perceived emotionally abusive treatment of his longtime girlfriend, actually makes him more popular.

Yep. He gay! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

And, don't even get me started on Michael Phelps pimping out his baby every chance he got during the Olympics. I didn't see any other athlete being interviewed right and left about their "girlfriend" or children. Then Phelps returns to America and is immediately photographed with Simon Cowell. With the prop, (oops!) I mean baby posed smack dab in the middle. Unlike Bolt, Phelps is pimping out the blissful domesticity of a happy hetero father, deeply devoted and in love with his “girlfriend” who he will definitely marry at the end of year.

The script may be different, but the purpose of the narrative is the same. Nothing to see here, folks.
