Thirty Days of Toothy Tile, Grey Goose and the Baby Tiles
Day 19
The time has come on this 30-day love journey to look at a most momentous date in time with the two headliners of this near-15 year tale. We invite you to get comfortably seated and get ready to watch a little over three (3) minutes of extremely rare, video footage of a Jaustin luncheon outing.
QUIET ON THE SET!!!!
Please turn off all cell phones and any other electronic device except for your video source. And please, no talking. No gum chewing. No stomach gurgling or nervous humming. Check all ID and personal items at the door. This video must be viewed in absolute quiet and undisturbed darkness, for it is fragile and sacred.[updated editor's note: I guess this means pausing the music player as well. LOL!]
From January 2012 -
Bow down to the historic piece of film which IS the Sushi Lunch video, starring Fave Biking & Loved Up Twosome: Jacob Gyllenhaal and Austin Nichols.
Along for wallpapering purposes, there are: Gene Hong, singer Adam Levine, a "PR-type", silver haired man, and an unidentified smoking gentleman. But truly, the stars of this show were Jake and Austin, in the flesh, sharing the same turf, having just shared the same booth, perhaps even sharing a plate special. ;-)
This video occurred about one month before Austin's bearding contract with Sophia Bush officially ended (February 16, 2012). Laughably the public "parting" directly correlated with the cancellation of One Tree Hill. At the time, many thought the staged "outing" was going to usher in a new era, a loosening of the reins if you will. But alas the hope proved to be a pipe dream because the two men went on to burrow even deeper into the closet under WME oversight. Nonetheless, this video was an unexpected gift.
Although we are not sure of all the reasons for Jake and Austin to have purposely choreographed and distributed this short video online, the intent was to let the world know they were still together. Remember, the last time these two were photographed in the same frame was the result of another carefully planned photo op, the weekend Prince of Persia was released on May 29, 2010. Sophia Bush was the chaperone that day because who knows what these guys might have gotten into if left to their own devices!
To return to the main subject of this post, however, the above video with Levine and company is all about Jake and his man - Austin, for whatever reason, coming around to the driver's side of the Q7 where everyone can see him getting in right behind Jake. In other words, there's no question who Austin is leaving with that day. Come to think of it, these guys did something very similar at the gym photo op in 2010. Sophia Bush getting into the backseat and Austin very much in front.
We can hear and see these boys loud and clear, regardless of the year or the venue. The primary message as old as time itself.

Several observations and/or comments I wanted to make about this video now that I've watched it again a couple of times.
First of all, thank heavens once again to an unknown (whom I suspect to be) long time WFT2'er regular from the older days who preserved this video because you can't get it anymore on x17 and it's not on YouTube either. Person, if you are out there and lurking, thank you so, so much.
You can tell this video was purposely made - it wasn't a pap spying or being intrusive. At around 2:57, you can see the older man asking the guys if they're ready and then says "let's go" and that's when he, Jake and Austin all take off together for the car.
I kind of chuckle at the smoker guy because he could like hardly wait to light up as soon as they were outside. lol. I don't know who that is - I looked up the members of Maroon 5, but he really didn't look like any of them, I didn't think. But could be wrong.
Gene Hong is the guy who walks away for awhile talking on his cell phone. Jake fans will recognize him because Jake used to do quite a few photo ops with him.
And I had to grin because somebody parked too close to their line as you can see Jake and Austin both having to barely open their car doors to get in so they don't scratch or bump them. LOL. And Jake gets to drive in this photo op as well as the Gym Photo Op with Sophia Bush (two of the pictures are in this post) from 2010 and Austin rode shotgun in the gym photos, but in this video, he is in the back as the old man pulled some clout and rode in the front passenger seat. Hopefully the Q7 has plenty of legroom in the passenger seats. ;-)
You know, in the 1D fandom or Jared/Jensen, or even with Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, you have all these videos, interviews with them together, gifs and opportunities to go see them in person and interacting on a stage. But with Jake and Austin? There's virtually nothing. There were the brief seconds from The Day After Tomorrow DVD extras which are fuzzy and dark and I don't even know if there's audio. There are biking and coffee pictures, the infamous Laker photos, and some stealth pics like the subway train and the Leadville pic.
No audio on any of them, no live action. Then there is this 3 minute video.
That's it. In all these years of their being together, this is all there is of them together sharing the same space. Like 15 years. And when I see younger fans wailing about not seeing the J's for a week, I'm sitting over here saying "Try 4 years!"
The 1D fandom is kind of getting what Jaustin fans have experienced because they are going on over a year of those guys not being together. But at least they all have social media and are on television and whatnot.
It's astounding really, that Jake and Austin are a couple who are together, but they have not been photo'd together (that we know of) since 2012.
That is what you call a deep, deep closet. It's very poignant.
Actually, I believe there is audio on the DVD extras from The Day After Tomorrow, but I don't know if there's audio between Jake and Austin. Guess that's how that should be phrased.
Oh how quickly I forget!! There was that little bit of dark video from Berlinale at the dinner. We'll be taking a look at that in another post. Forgot about that video.
