Thirty Days of Toothy Tile, Grey Goose and the Baby Tiles
Day 4
In today's Hollywood stork world, telltale "baby bumps" seem to make their debut at 5 months, 7 months, or sometimes not until it's about time for the one year check-up (see: Ryan Gosling - nah, just exaggerating a tad, lol.) In October 2007, Jake officially began a public "romantic relationship" with actress Reese Witherspoon, stepping out with a piggyback ride, lots of pointing at who-knows-what touristy sights, and some snuggly strolling. While everyone was busy oggling, ooh'ing and aah'ing at the marvel of Jake being in a high profile, Grade A relationship, he was simultaneously beginning the slow roll-out of what would become a near-ritual over the next six and a half years - that of frequent doctor and medical building visits.
Following are all of Jake's medical/doctor building visits from 2007 through 2015. Remember, Jake didn't make his bombastic and official "move" to New York City until 2012, which is why you will notice the publicly documented appearances taper off. But until that time, he was a California boy and as is the Jake-way, these visits were accompanied with plenty of photos. Also, keep in mind that Baby Tile #1 was born on October 17, 2007.

• [Note in 2015, Jake made trips that we know of to Los Angeles in
January, April, and July, plus two times in September after the
August 24 doctor's office photo op. This despite the narrative that
he was a transplant to NYC.]
Whew! That's a lot of doctor's office and medical center visits, isn't it?
On the blog Oh My Godot, when an observation was made that the doctor visits seemed to follow a regular pattern, the following reply was made from an "anonymous" voice:
we are family said...
"The doctor visits seem to occur in a regular pattern."
Jake is visiting that same medical building for years, long before BT talk.
source
To which I had replied:
And so out of curiosity, I just paid a visit to IHJ (comprensive online site for all Jake Gyllenhaal pictures throughout his entire career) and went through all of Paparazzi Pictures (for the years of) 2004, 2005, and 2006 and found no medical building visit pictures.
May 29, 2010 at 10:51pm (ET)
And after further review, there were no photo op pictures of Jake visiting any medical or doctor's office/building during 2000 through 2003 either.
So I believe that makes "we are family"s reply boldly inaccurate. LOL!
No, the medical office visits correlate with Ted Casablanca's post about Toothy and Grey Goose's plans for beginning a family.
Turns out T2, so blab our mutual amigos, plans on swirling up his love juice, right alongside his boyfriend's procreating protein, ya know, putting it in some kinda beaker or toaster, or something, and mixing it around with a donor's eggs, then putting the results into yet another donor to carry the resulting embryo. - Ted Casablanca, March 15, 2007.
Now we can look back and see how real-time Ted was posting this heads-up just prior to the paparazzi'd captures which would appear on an almost regular basis on I Heart Jake.
From 2007 through December 2015, this is what Jake did, while Austin was working regularly on One Tree Hill as the character, Julian Baker. These visits to medical buildings and offices took place in Los Angeles; they did not carry over into New York City beginning in 2012, when Jake "moved" to the Big Apple. There are only four visits in 2012, three in 2013, and none in 2014. But in 2015? Notice there was an out-of-the-blue flurry of medical building visits in October and November.
But no visits since that time, most likely because Jake and Austin are
So, why all of the visits in the state of California? Why not New York City since 2012?
Undoubtedly, the Baby Tiles were born in California due to the state's very friendly surrogacy laws. As someone termed it, the state of California is the Cadillac of venues to have a surrogacy birth.
• California
allows commercial surrogacy, as well as regularly reinforces contracts with
regard to gestational surrogacy. In addition, the state makes it possible for
all intended parents - regardless of their marital status and/or their sexual
orientation - to establish legal parental rights prior to the actual birth of
their child (or children), as well as without the need to go through
proceedings for adoption. source
• The
laws in California are very clear as to the requirement for intended parents to
establish their parentage before the baby’s birth. With the aid of an attorney,
a series of steps must be taken in order to file a copy of the surrogacy
agreement in a court of law. Once this has been completed, records of the
agreement will be sealed except to the intended parents, the gestational
carrier, the attorneys of both parties, and the state’s Department of Social
Services.

Commercial surrogacy is defined as: "...the term generally refers to any surrogacy arrangement in which the surrogate mother is compensated for her services beyond reimbursement of medical expenses." source
For a couple such as Jake and Austin, the plan of having a family will come at a cost. With both men being celebrities and high wage earners, it's unrealistic to believe a surrogate is going to carry a baby 9 months, hand him/her over and expect nothing more than paid medical bills and a hug of thanks. And for a couple who fell so hard for one another, one would expect their desire for a family to include elimination of legal risks and the peace of mind that the children to be born will be theirs forever and carrying their names.
The financial, legal and contractual details may have well been the easiest part of starting a family for Jake and Austin.

They're a world my world revolves around
My sacred piece of solid ground
The flesh and bone that gives me strength to stand
They are a fire in my drivin' on
The drive behind my comin' home
The livin', breathin' reason I am

You know, it's amazing now to look back at that. We OMG regulars watched all of those visits and we were scratching our heads like crazy. All kinds of things were being bandied about - why on earth was Jake going to the medical office all the time? And conversations became rather heated a few times as the first conclusion was that maybe the bearding was getting to him and he was seeing a therapist.
Boy, I remember one poster in particular (likely an intern now that I have gained some experience at this kind of thing), he and I got into a real snit fest because he was so "furious" that some of us were bringing up the possibility of therapy.
But at that time, it just really wasn't registering yet. I know that I notice there were several years where Jake went two days in a row. That's kind of unusual, isn't it? There is a strong possibility that Jake & Austin had twins for the second go around and if that was the case, perhaps it was easier to take one or two in one day, and then the third one on the second day. Doctor visits, especially if they involve shots, can be pretty exhausting. Just a thought.
But it's hard to say.
Another thing we have noticed. It seems that Jake & Austin tried to plan many of their kids' births to be in the 4th quarter, particularly the months of Nov and Dec. This would be because of the holiday breaks and they would be able to just disappear from the public eye and no one would think anything of it.
Jensen Ackles just became the father of twins. They were born in November (or so I believe, anyway) and so he was able to just disappear quite a bit due to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Impressive compilation there, PG. Not only the time and effort dedicated to this task. But, the way you have neatly organized the chronology of Jake's visits makes it easy to see that something is going on here beyond routine doctor's visitations. First off, there's no celebrity the paps followed around like they did when it came to Jake and those medical appointments. The question has to be asked, "Why would that be?" For paps, time is money, so they were obviously showing up for something big. A money shot, perhaps?
An example of this was a YouTube video uploaded by the geniusmachine back on April 7, 2009. [Note that one of those medical visits listed in this post is from that same day.] The video shows an ecstatic, taunting paparazzo, named Angello, laughing and saying to Jake “It’s too late. Too late, buddy. It’s too late.” Obviously, the camera caught something that the paparazzo was thrilled about. One of the comments on that post is an intriguing one:

We made much more money on this One Shot then you will ever make in one day.
Now, why would a pap, make "much money" for an everyday photo of Jake Gyllenhaal? One can see that there are a zillion photos of him arriving and leaving that doctor's office area. So even though Jake looked great in many of those photos, I just don't think that was the reason Hollywood paps had such a sustained interest in returning time and time and time again. Nope. Those paps kept showing up for another reason. Like maybe a chance to capture something on film that they knew Jake's people would have to buy back from them for a hefty sum.
