30 Days and 16 Years: A Pin Up History of Jake Gyllenhaal and Austin Nichols - Day 10

The Sushi Lunch.  Supposedly, the date was January 17, 2012...

and we all know who was there, how important this outing was.  Here they are.

For once, looks like it was Austin with "the glower" instead of Jake.

That knowing hint of a smile,

Letting everyone know they were still together, this photo op was all about Jake and Austin, no one else.

And although there would be a couple more sightings together in the near future, 2012 would begin the lowering of the teller window.

But because we're writing the script today, let's not end on that note!  Roll that video, Bert!

You know, I started to leave the post at the bank teller window and just couldn't do it.

I could watch that x17 video over and over. Of course, now having seen Austin in person and just across a table, you can't beat the real deal, lol.

Of course it cracks me up that these guys all hug Jake and Austin boo-hoo-like as if they're going away for the rest of their lives. And when you think about it, this video was supposed to be the big So-Long to Jake who was "moving" to New York City. So why they're also saying goodbye to Austin and leaving him behind really pretty much points to J&A being the couple here. *wink*

And maybe the Old Man gets a hug because he picked up the tab for lunch on the business card!

Yep that sure did seem like a goodbye lunch for J and A. A new life in NYC :-)

One thing that hit me then and even more so now is that Austin was not left behind. He followed Jake and got in the car with him. The subliminal message is powerful. Jake may have been "moving" to NY, but apparently Austin was not being left behind. The public narrative, of course, was that Austin remained in LA and Jake relocated to the east coast to be with his Big Sis, nieces and Mommie Dearest. His "real" family.

The problem was that this video was not supporting that version of events. Moreover, within a few weeks, we discovered that Austin not only followed Jake to England, but then to Berlin. It was clear, in other words, that these two were not breaking up. They were simply trying to convince the casual observer that they were.

It was obvious when Austin got into that car that they were moving off to a new life together.

Yes, I agree Tom. The key word is together. Including highly coordinated bearding contracts. Jake had signed up with Reese Witherspoon from late 2007 to the end of 2009. Then right before they "broke up", Austin and Sophia Bush moved into the spotlight in the second half of 2009. Once with WME, Jake signed up with Alyssa Miller in the summer of 2013. When that less than six month obligation wound down (even though his team rolled out fake stories for another year), Austin and Chloe's ridiculous antics filled up social media (particularly exploiting the "flexibility" of Instagram), beginning on September 19, 2013. Coincidentally,. Jake's movie, Prisoners was released on September 20, 2013. But no, those two aren't together at all. *snark*

I just don't know how anyone deals with these fake relationships. It must make them feel awful about themselves. It sure seemed that it made Jake a miserable man when he was hanging with Reese. I hope he never does it again. I think Austin actually at least liked the women that he has been matched with. For some reason meeting Austin has made me even more enamored with him because he seemed like such a kind man. It certainly has made me interested in the J and A relationship again. I feel bad for both Austin and Jake or anyone else who has to beard. It has to be humiliating. I know what is it like to live a lie and I feel so much better about myself the more I have excepted that being gay is who I am and I never want to have to lie about it or hide it again. I feel bad for Jake and Austin and someone like Aaron Rodgers. Lying about who you are leaves you spiritually empty and sad. No one should ever have to live that way. So much has changed and Jake and Austin are being cheated out of the freedom of living life as the person you are gives you. Hope I see them living their life in the open someday. I feel it is what they would love to be able to do.
