30 Days and 16 Years: A Pin Up History of Jake Gyllenhaal and Austin Nichols - Day 2

Even though Jake and Austin had met at The Day After Tomorrow auditions in May 2002, this appearance on November 13, 2005 was greatly significant because it was the first time they had publicly and purposely stepped out together.  The event was the closing night of the AFI Festival in Los Angeles at the ArcLight Theater for Casanova, and even though Jake and Austin were conspicuously not photographed or filmed together for The Day After Tomorrow promotion in May 2004, this paired outing, over one year later, revealed that these two young men's special "bond" was still going strong.

Looks like a casual Sunday date night, doesn't it?

I can't figure out why my closet pictures keep turning out so big now. They didn't always used to be that way, sometimes they would, but usually just on a tall picture. Sorry they're so huge, lol. I don't know what Blogger did.

I saw an interesting tweet tonight by an OTH fan who, I assume it's with a group, have started up a campaign to hold a convention or begin a con company, hard to tell yet. But due to their statement of "in light of recent events", which would of course be in reference to that whole Hilarie Burton/Sophia Bush/Eyecon eyesore of a twitter debacle which Sophia's team had to raise via Just Jared and eonline, it would appear that things seem on a path to try to put on a con of their own.

Fortitude Convention campaign

I can't even get my head around this. It sounds like this is a group of fans who want to put on a OTH con and are aiming for 2019, so that's next year. So they would need to book a venue and would need the funds for this soon because you have to book these places pretty well ahead of time, I would think.

Then you need to book a professional photographer, a few vendors, staff, a food vendor. And then you would have to, I would think, pay these actors to come out to your convention. I don't know how much that would cost, but it should involve a flat fee, plus their airfare and hotel stay. And that's not going to be even a Courtyard by Marriott. These actors are used to staying at nice places. Transportation to and from the hotel and venue. You're going to need to play some games or come up with ideas for panels. Going to have a cookout or party? Well, that's more expenses: food, paper supplies, maybe entertainment.

And they have started a gofundme, so they're asking the fans to help fund this effort. And these same fans will have to fork over more money if they want to attend.

I'm sorry, but you want to start up a convention company, you need to come up with that money yourself. It doesn't come from the general public.

It seems to me someone is out for Eyecon and working to divert business away from them. I didn't find them the best run outfit, but they came through in the end and yeah, they gauge you, but don't all of these cons? Maybe I would feel differently if I had a really bad experience with them.

But there just seems to be something a bit skeptical about this whole thing, I don't know.

Good luck, Tom!! I'm hitting the hay. Why did they start this game so late? It started at 8:40 here. Oooh, Villanova has quite the lead, don't they?

Me and the kitties are hittin' the hay. Zzzzzz :-)
