30 Days and 16 Years: A Pin Up History of Jake Gyllenhaal and Austin Nichols - Day 19

Aaaah, at first this picture seemed a sheer stroke of luck and one of those OOPS! captures.  I saw it first as a tweet and sent the picture via email to the girls (Special and M&M):

Here was the Instagram:

And one of the first reactions was "The guy on the other side of the subway door looks like Austin in a hat" and I said, "I knowwwww".   So what followed on that day's Oh My Godot blogspot thread was a bit of analyzation and undecided verdicts.  Was Austin the tall man in denim jeans, jacket and beanie?

Looking kind of.......like this when he was in Israel?

When this photo op of Jake and Austin occurred the very next day we knew that had been Austin in the subway photo. At the time, it seemed like one of those "prompted" photo ops due to Austin having been caught by a fan's camera.

But now while researching again for the original source of the photo and studying the account more closely, it's been realized that the source of the Instagram account  is a fashion stylist by the name of Andrew Mukamal.  And Mr. Mukamal has traveled all over the world, behind the camera of numerous photo shoots.  He is quite talented and loves taking oodles of pictures of his dogs.  Oh!  And he's also been the stylist for Zoe Kravitz for the past two years.  Zoe has modeled for Calvin Klein.  Small, small world, isn't it?

From 2015, Jake and Zoe Kravitz.

Coupled with both Jake and Austin being longtime, very good friends with director and fashion filmmaker Matthew Frost, could he have been the connection to Andrew Mukamal?

Hmmm, it is looking more and more like the chances of that "subway slip" being an organic moment are evaporating pretty quickly.

NONEtheless, the subway train pic makes #19 in our 30 days.  ;-)

I'm so thankful for OMG. OMG has been such an incredible source to go back to and look at old conversation threads, links both good and now-deleted, old pictures. In this particular case, OMG and my old emails have been so beneficial because I went back and looked at this Andrew Mukamal's Instagram account and I think back then, our eyes (at least mine anyway!) were not more trained like they are now.

And I saw where this guy was Zoe Kravitz' stylist for the past two years. Bingo! He was in the fashion and photography industry. And who did Jake and Austin know who also was? Matthew Frost.

And you know, what are the chances of someone getting a shot of Jake like that in a train? Zilch. Jake sits with his back against restaurant brick walls all the time for a reason. He's paranoid as hell, lol.

And there's no way he couldn't have seen this guy taking his picture. Not only that, but look at Austin. He's outside of the train and he's like staring at the outside of the train. Why wouldn't he be in the doorway?

No, I think this was like SXSW - one of those set up "oops".

And later on, we'll explain a little further why we think it is an "oops" on purpose.

The tweet is also edited by myself. He had a couple of curse words in there and I chose to leave them out. So sorry about messing with that!

Who else is glad tomorrow is Friday? Man oh man, I know I am. What a long week!

Starting to wind things down with the 30 days, aren't we? At least Jake and Austin can rest assured that next year there won't be a 30 days of anything, lol. I think we're about tapped out of 30 days ideas. But these two Master Lists of sorts are going to be great for the archive, that was the main reason why we did this 30 days of Jake and Austin.

It's one thing to say "Oh yeah, remember the subway train photo? Oh, I'll never forget the sushi lunch!" But to have them all bam, bam, bam, one after the other, to have 30 different situations, 30 different settings where these two guys were together in a photo or video over a span of 14 years, is a big deal. Can't be ignored.

And yet you have other blogs, other "stan" twitter accounts, Tumblr and Instagram - every single one of them ignoring Austin and acting like he hasn't ever and still doesn't exist in Jake's life.

Well, #30Days speaks for itself.
